Most Difficult Video Game Ever?

willow was tough but not impossible

i beat it every time right from the start.

stargate was about the same

but the toughest game hmmm....

morrowind simply cause i played for a week before i found the map that showed i was less than 1/3 the way thru :Q

anyone who has the patience and skill to beat any of the new PC Nascar Games on the hardest level deserves something...

time consuming games like racing games are very complicated, you have to stay focused for about 2.5 hours at a time and run 500 laps door to door...

but yeah... zelda 2 was hard, and battletoads was super hard.

Action Fighter for the original SEGA. Played that for HOURS and never passed it.

Crystal Castles for C64 was damn hard.
As of today I think MOHAA Deatmatch is hard. I get owned all the time

We should distinguish between good games that were hard and games that sucked because they were poorly designed as far as the skill level required to complete them.

Sure it's possible beating Ikari Warriors, but it's similar to a WW1 battle. Keep throwing men at them. Without continues, it's impossible.

That game was awesome! What are you smoking?! Anyhoo, I think Raiden was a bithc to beat, basically a lot of the older games were hard as hell to barely beat, not even mentioning getting all the powerups, all the lives, and all that other crap.

I'm still reading this thread but i had to respond to this one... The shadow of link is insanely easy if you figure out that you just move all the way to your starting corner, duck down and just continue attacking in your crouched position. The shadow will just continue to bounce around and will occasionally get hit and repeat his stupid pattern over again.

I think Metal Gear 2: Snake's Revenge was pretty damn tough, it took me 2 summers to beat it b/c I would get just as pissed off as your friend and just quit after hours and hours and hours of repeating the same areas.

Oh yeah, and for recent games: Quake3: Xaero on Nightmare mode.... unreal...

Completing all the objectives is just a side bonus for extra replayability - I'd still say that if you got an ending to either of those games without much difficulty then it'd be considered an "easy game." I think the older NES games made their games really hard b/c 1) to make the games last longer (I remember how the CEO made a comment in Nintendo Power early on justifying video games b/c they created perseverance) 2) b/c they were churning out games SO fast.

Ikaruga for the Dreamcast. Last game for it I think. Imported. No codes/cheats. Its one of those top scrolling plane fighter games. Might have gotten to the 4th level. Uber hard.

*nods* I can pass Level 1 with an A-rating on easy. I've unlocked up to Level 3, and died my way about 1/3 through Level 5 (the last level). This is all on Easy Mode, forget Normal and Hard

Because you had to use the dang joystick whereas the original used a trackball. Same w/ Marble Madness.
