Dynasty Warriors, unlike Final Fantasy, didn't change its formula into complete mediocrity by simply relying on flashy graphics. DW still and always has been (if you ignore the first one, which is actually a fighting game) a mindless hack and slash game.

Wow, that's funny because I remember watching the trailer for it on my original Halo game disc and it looked like a horrible game. Guess I wasn't wrong.

SNES - Ken Griffey Jr's Winning Run.

The first KGjr baseball game for the snes was absolutely amazing, fun, I've probably played 6 full seasons in that game.

Winning Run was a pile of cowshit

oooo great call, I was devastated as a child over that game because it was so bad. I still play the first one all the time, better than the shitty games 2k has put out for the last 5 years.

-Big Hurt Baseball was absolutely terrible

I played it and it was terrible, although I never beat it. I may even still have a copy of it back home.

Daikatana is legendary. I don't know of any game that was as hyped and as bad as it was. I think the only game that could possibly surpass it is Duke Nukem Forever.

what annoys me about the FF games so much, at least in terms of game mechanics, is that they don't seem to be building on each other (ie: this thing worked, let's keep it in for the next game, this other thing didn't, let's improve or toss it), but rather, with the recent games (FFX and beyond) it feels like they're just making each one different from the one prior just for the sake of it.

I'd kill for a return to jobs and turn-based JRPG'ing with more of a focus on the story and plot.

FF8 killed console gaming. Deus Ex 2 sucked the life out of PC gaming. I still PC game, but I dont have nearly the same enthusiasm for upcoming releases.

Since people are mentioning some pc games, my personal biggest disappointment that I bought was Master of Orion III.
GTA4 was a little disappointing/overhyped as a game, but I thought it was an impressive technical achievement.
