Most disappointing games of 2016 so far?

We are almost 5 months into 2016, and I was curious, which 2016 game that you have played are you most disappointed with so far?

Since I only have 1 title from 2016, it also happens to be the one I am most disappointed with. So much potential, yet, it has fallen flat on its face. (Though, they do say they will fix it...) Ashes of the Singularity.

So far I haven't found any 2016 releases that were disappointing. In fact, the two games I've been playing from 2016 are incredibly good. Grim Dawn and Dying Light: The Following.

I know Grim Dawn has been in EA for years but it was released late in February (and yet it's not listed in any 2016 game release guides) and The Following, while just an expansion, feels like a true expansion and not just a tacked-on extra area.

So... I guess I'll have to reserve this slot for a later date when I play a game that's a letdown.

Probably depends on what you wanted. I was looking forward to MSGV but after reading reviews and player comments decided it wasn't for me so I never bothered to buy it. Same with Mad Max. Actually I don't think I've bought any 2016 games except for The Culling, which is EA - and I really like the game so far.

Yep, Grim Dawn is my non-disappointing game of the year. I can even bask in the reflected glory of having helped fund the original KS campaign for it

The closest is X-Com 2, not so much disappointing as that I haven't found myself hungering to play it. I did the tutorial mission and haven't gotten back to it yet.

The Division. Totally let down by the main mission with the recycled quests - secure supplies, rescue hostages. They could've easily included more variety in quests and boss fights. All bosses are basically just a chunk of meat where the only way to beat them is riddle them with bullets which takes no strategical thinking. Just hide behind cover and blast away. So much potential wasted. Let's hope they can pick it up in the future. All MMOs usually start slow so fingers crossed.

Total trash. I was expecting the sort of DLC releases F:NV got. Not even a single new quest. Total letdown.

Actually that was the second DLC and a $5 one, like the F:NV weapon stuff. The first DLC was the robots one. The next DLC will be the one with Nick.

I think it's clear that this thread isn't going to be about genuinely bad games, it's going to be about games that didn't click with that particular poster.

Case in point, Fallout 4 wasn't remotely "bad enough for 2 or 3 years" for me. I've got over 400 hours in at this point, and I'm still running into content I missed the first couple of playthroughs.

I do agree that the Wasteland Workshop (DLC #2) was pretty skimpy. I don't have a problem with it being settlement-focused since I like settlements, but I've got about 5x the Settlement content from a single free mod, Homemaker. And not all the new parts work right - the concrete walls don't snap correctly.

I wouldn't say BDO is in the "most disappointing of 2016" category. While I'm not overly fond of some of it's limitations, I do enjoy the fact that it's a game I can "play" while I play other games. IE: The bulk of the game revolves around doing things while AFK, and the game is super computer resource friendly. I start it up, minimize it and go play something else! Plus it's a nice distraction when I want to play some hack'n'slash.

Most disappointing game right now for me, well, I'd have to say ArcheAge (even though it's a 2014? title). I still play it, but only because it's that whole "watching a trainwreck" thing at this point. I have so much time invested that it feels like a waste to not to play at this point. Trion really screwed up big with it, and they continue to make it worse daily.

Fallout 4 was 2015 though. Maybe you mean PC only? I bought the XBOne that came bundled with it - so excited to finally get the console... and the game was utterly impossible to follow for me. I got $40 back for it and that was that.

I know, right? The incursion was just a big room with waves. The boss APC doesn't even move. I have such a love hate relationship with that game. I really really want to like it but the devs are makinging it really hard to get past all of its short comings.

I think the most disappointing thing is that It's almost May and not a single game has looked good enough to warrant getting it at launch, so I haven't played any. Mirror's Edge is the only one on the horizon that I'll be considering, and No Man's Sky is a possibility but I'll probably wait for that to drop in price too.

Of what I've purchased and played this year, Quantum Break. Luckily I did not buy it for PC, total trash(got it on PC free from pre-order of XB1 version). On the XB1 it's not half bad but as far as PC games go this is the worst for me so far. Not far behind is Street Fighter 5. Had lots of issues on PC from what I read and was only half the total content. I understand the reason, they launched it to get ahead of the tournaments and online play was sort of working. Though there's no arcade mode and other promised features yet.

I have two but one stands out:

Grim Dawn. The over reliance on physique to make any build Ultimate capable for survivability is absurd. Plus, the necessity for a lot of physique to wear armor. Some builds need 80%+ of your attribute points to wear pants. Every build has over half of their attribute points going into physique. If you don't pump physique (health, defense ability and health regen) you are gimpimg your character. I give their attribute system a 1/10. I would give it a 0 if I wasn't grading it on a scale of 1 to 10.

There is a build on their forums for a Blademaster that put all attribute points into cunning. Have fun spending an over abundance of time on Elite to farm for the gear to do Ultimate. You could farm Ultimate if you don't mind dying over and over and over again.

Along with the nerfing of health regen constellations. The lifesteal nerfs and outright removal of lifesteal in the past with nothing addressing this for release.

The nerfing of the Dual Blades line in a previous patch that went live on release because people didn't like seeing high numbers on Blade Masters. Yet, there are other builds that have higher sheet dps and kill faster, yet the Dual Blades nerf stayed.

I have Grim Dawn on two Steam accounts with one bad review. The second one will be much worse. I give this game a 5/10 at most.

The second game:

Street Fighter 5. No arcade mode gives this an instant 1/10. I have the collector's edition sitting in the shipping box waiting for this to patch. If you bought this game for multiplayer, good for you. I did not. I have very little interest in it. I may just look at putting this on eBay and just being done with it.

Yeah, not a fan of Grim Dawn either. Really amazed they spent so long working on this game (7 years?) when it still doesn't feel or looked polished. I always seem to end up going back to Path of Exile when i need my ARPG fix. I wish something new would come out, POE is the best of the current batch imo but still a little slow for me.

Huh, I'm having fun with Grim Dawn but I'm still playing through on Veteran. The endgame might really be 5/10 (I won't know for awhile) but getting there deserves more like 7 - 8/10.
