Of course most of the people in the H&F forum do some type of regular exercise. I do a little bit of strength training in the gym along with a lot of running. That is my primary exercise and while I enjoy both, there are other activities out there that give a great work out that are far more enjoyable. So what other activities do you guys do that you really enjoy and help you stay in shape.

A couple of activities I really enjoy:
1) Mountain Biking
2) Surfing (hoping to make this a regular occurrence if I get my wish and move to Santa Cruz, CA in the next year)

So what activities do you guys do and enjoy that have the side affect of keeping you in shape? And I'm not talking the activities that have led to you excessively strong forearms...

I've recently taken up basketball again and I had forgotten how much fun it is. Playing pickup games is fun and interesting. Plus, it kicks my ass since I'm too competitive to give any less than too much effort I'm also interested in things like boxing, muay thai, BJJ, etc, but can't afford it at the moment.

Maybe you should exclude sports if you want more interesting answers.

I've never done it but I've always wanted to go rock climbing, I think that would be real fun and a great workout for your back.

Good point...you understood my question. I also play soccer and ice hockey...but I was more looking for options outside of your typical team sports....but it doesn't hurt to hear the sports people play to keep in shape.

Rock climbing is an awesome way to work on your core body strength. Used to belong to a climbing gym...but it has been a number of years since I've gone anywhere.

Being tall, people always asked me if I played basketball...but I never really did past my primary school years (got into ice hockey, soccer, and lacrosse). I have to say though, it is one of the most fun sports to pick up with some friends...and it is definitely a serious work out if you play aggressively.

Boxing does really seem like a good way to stay in shape...but requires a gym or equipment that I don't want to invest in at this time.

I love basketball. I also love kick boxing and weight training. Yoga and Plio are also good and kicks my ass as I typically walk out of the class like a sweaty mofo x_x

I've been wanting to get involved in soccer more, but I need to meet some soccer players lol.

The only other thing I'd want to pick up would be racquetball ~ I used to play a lot a few years back....

Change skiing to surfing, and that is my list.

If you say you also like sex and money, That is just too weird, and we should totally hang out! :awe:

Ummmm...are you offering to pay me for buttsecks? If so, you should probably add that to your list of exercises
ROFL! No, no, nothing like that. It is from the movie Idiocracy. When Frito finds out another guy not only shares his liking of money, but also the nudie bar/sex, he is astonished at how much they have in common. He suggests they hang out sometime.

I mean what are the chance they would both like sex and money? Freaky huh?

My favorite is actually running even though I'm prohibited by knee from doing a ton of it. I like cycling but it just never seems to quite be as fun although the cycling leg of triathlons is absolutely more fun than the running one (I'm a stronger cyclist, plus at that point I'm not as tired).

I do weights but won't pretend I don't hate them. They're incredibly boring. Running is nice because you see scenery and it just feels more pure than cycling. Swimming is like a treadmill in a dark room so is only tolerable with a Swimp3.

I don't like to walk/hike. It's like running but slower and takes longer.

I could see enjoying rock climbing. I bet gymnastics would be fun.

Break dancing... if only I could.

I like to bike, definitely the most fun way of exercising without killing your body.

Oh and Reverse Curls... ^_^

I play tennis, basketball and racquetball. Weight lifting is rarely fun but swimming, cycling and running are.

when i'm on vacation i usually snorkel daily if there are sites right off shore.

while it isn't too much excercise, i'm usually swimming for at least an hour out there, although it is not very high intensity.
