the dead at giants stadium late 1990's. of course, it was probably not just the music that made the evening so entertaining.

Metallica/Korn New Years Eve show in San Jose California.. 1997 I believe it was.

was my 3rd night seeing them in a row.

First at Cow Palace in SF, then in Oakland at the Coliseum, then the Shark Tank in SJ..
NYE show was the best I've ever been to. Counting down with Metallica was epic.

Hmm in the past couple of years, probably Machine Head/Megadeth or Gogol Bordello. Closely followed by Rodrigo y Gabriela. Closely followed by Notorious BIG/WuTang in early 90's.

This. 3 hours of pure epicness.

Closely followed by the last NIN show of the lights in the sky tour. 2 very different shows. Vegas ftw.

Blues Traveler at the Loudon Summer Music Festival in VA. It wasn't really the concert as much as the setting (out on a field in the evening) and the fact that I went with a girl who I was then head over heels in love with. This is going to sound really corny, but sitting on the grass under the stars just gave me this overwhelming feeling that everything would always be ok. Hard to describe, but anyways, that's one of those memories I'll always be happy for.

Alice in Chains @ the Paradise in Boston was unreal. The place is tiny, I mean tiny, and they put on a 2 hr set with one 10 minute break, no opening band. Big  to that show

I was also pleasantly surprised by the Deftones earlier this year as well.

I saw AC/DC at Madison Square Garden. Needless to say, it was beyond awesome.

Believe it or not, Don Henley puts on a hell of a show. Awesome backup singers, great stage show, very well done.

I'll never forget seeing Ronnie James Dio in the 80's though. He had the full stage circus going on with pyramids and flaming 2 story demons and explosions...crazy! You just don't see stuff like that anymore.

G.dam, you got to see Dio in the 80's. I saw his last tour w/ Heaven and Hell and he still rocked, even emaciated with cancer. Can't imagine how awesome he was in his prime...

80's metal concerts were all over the top in stage presentation..
especially Iron Maiden, Ozzy, Alice Cooper.. all were HUGE into props and just mindblowing stages, lights, and pyro.

How I do miss the 80s and the metal scene back then.

Moonsorrow at Thee Parkside in San Francisco last year. The place is about the size of my bedroom and I was right on the stage and it was awesome.

Hmm Smashing Pumpkins back in the early 90s? They canceled the original show b/c the drummer overdosed? This was back when they released Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.

Followed by Muse, saw them 2x last year.

1) Radiohead, Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in SF, winter 1997-98 (OK Computer tour).
2) The Pogues, some club in NYC in 1988.
3) Stiff Little Fingers reunion show in NYC in about 1989.
4) Butthole Surfers, First Avenue in Minneapolis, 1985 or so.
5) Minutemen (numerous shows), Seventh Street Entry in Minneapolis, 1984-1987.

The latter four are in no particular order and I've probably omitted something that deserves to be there.

Probably Sigur Rós. Other memorable shows have been James Taylor, BB King, and Arlo Guthrie. Oh yea, and the Brian Setzer Orchestra xmas concert. Really, all the concerts I've been to have been damned good. The only duds have been when I went as a guest of someone else... Motley Crue :shudder:

Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings. Seen them twice now. Not too far behind are the Mighty Mighty Bosstones over a decade ago (was my first concert) and Bela Fleck and the Flecktones.
