Most Ever Downloaded on 56k?

Luckily I am fortunate enough to have cable but a buddy of mine told me he has downloaded on 7.5Gbs worth of Pr0n using 56k( he has proof to back up his claim) . Anyone ever download more on 56k?

Back in my 56k days i downloaded so much...(no pron thank you.) I remember one of my records was somehow downloading visual studio - around 350 megs in a day

the most I've downloaded in one sitting was about 100 MBs.. had to leave the thing one for 12, 13 hours. I think this was a 28.8K

Music was about as far as i got, sometimes a 30- 50 meg game demo, but that was if i wasnt gunna be around for a good long time.

I remember downloading some ~150MB demo for some game back in college. I started downloading before I went to bed and it was done about the time I woke up. Cummulatively over the course of several years I'm sure it was many many Gigs, but in one sitting and for one file that was the biggest one I can remember.

I remember trying to download a 70mb demo. It took about a day to download and it stopped at 99%. =(

Ahhh, I remember those 99% timeouts too Is there a technical explanation (other than life sucks) for why that used to happen with such seeming regularity?

back in the day I downloaded the game "the longest journey" on a 56k, for those who havent heard of it the game is 4 cd's. I downloaded it cause when I heard of the game there was no american publisher for the game. That was one LONG download

been leaving 28.8 on newsgroups or kazaa forever. having a separate line has its uses i suppose. 24/7 even a 28.8 can theoretically download like 8GB a month

I downloaded the 700MB beta of Ultima Online back in 1997 on a 28.8 modem with a 21.6 connection! It took an entire weekend, but I was out of town. I was very glad to see it actually finished downloading without a timeout

Way back in the day when I had 56k, In one "sitting", a.k.a. connection: defined as not being disconnected. I downloaded 1 gig from this guy's ftp. Must have been some music vids or something. Can't remember what else. No porn though

Well, back in the day, I would...wait a minute. Back in the day? Hell I'm still "in the day" with this stinking 28.8Kbps dial-up that is slower than I was getting three years ago when I lived in Michigan. Damned lines are supposed to be 56K ready, but the 3COM/USR line test utility reports there are too many digital-to-analogue conversions or something like that in our local phone line network. ARGGH!

A few years (free)Agent and alt.binaries used to be a way of sucking up 8hrs (give or take) of nightly bandwidth. Probably could get about 80-120MB per night that way.

Then I got cable modem and near-instantaneous downloads (but no access to alt.binaries due to crappy news server).

Now I'm back on dialup and don't have the patience to queue things. I usually wait until I'm going to be somewhere w/ highspeed like work or friends and get stuff that way.

All of a sudden I am inspired! I still live in the 56 K dialup world, mind you! And I use AOL (coz it's free!)

at @ 20 Megs a day for the past 4 months, I think I have filled a 30 Gig HDD already ..(can deleted files be added to the total download??)

I used to live in the AOL server/cerver/xerver rooms. I'd start a download before I went to bed, and if I was lucky, I'd have a new game after I got home from school.

Since I am employed though I don't DL games anymore, even w/ my cable modem. I used to download anything and everything from those AOL rooms though. They even around anymore? Anyone know? I realize most people dont use AOL here.
