i began watching part 1, and despised these people and their rhetoric. My blood pressure was high, and like everyone else, I wished they would all be taken out Branch Dividian style. As I watched, I felt sorry for them more than anything else. They really were sheltered, and almost victims of Fred Phelps' insanity and perverted views. The whole movement is simply a vehicle for his own delusions, hatred, and quite likely, abuse. The wiki link is quite interesting, as are some of the comments from the estranged children.

They insist that Westboro actually serves to enable a paraphilia of Phelps, wherein he is literally addicted to hatred.

Edit: I really like Louis. He definitely humanized it, kept the movie on an even-tempered flow, and injected enough logic to keep the conversations interesting.

I do feel sorry for these children and the people that have been brainwashed by 2 nut-jobs. You can tell in the 1-on-1 interviews with the kids, there is more there.
