People in the US don't really eat intestines but grilled beef intestines are very popular BBQ item in Korea. It's expensive. The beef large and small intestines have different taste and textures. The large intestines are chewy like rubber chicken while the small intestines are soft and buttery like due to the fat and collagen inside. Females like to eat it because they think all the collagen in the intestines makes their skin shiny and beautiful.

If you know how to prep the foods correctly and how to cook them properly, almost all foods are delicious (YMMV of course).

Being an Indian, I don't understand the fuss for Biryani. I hate every biryani that I've had at any Indian restaurant.
The biryani that my mom makes on the other hand.

I don't really do offal. I like a nice chicken liver and onion sautee and I've had sweetbreads done a couple ways and those were delicious. But the rest? No thanks. I tried brain tacos and couldn't get past the first bite. Ditto with a head taco. Cheek is fine but it was the eyeballs and stuff that was off putting. Have no interest in intestines.

the worst ever is headcheese.

Headcheese is overrated? Do you understand the meaning of the term "overrrated"? Can't say I've heard anyone singing the praises of headcheese in the last ... well, EVER. I don't see it on menus in restaurants where all the servers have tattoos, nose rings and man buns. No, I don't think headcheese is very high on many foodies' radar.

This has devolved into a "what food do I hate" thread. Big surprise... People from different cultures find different foods to be wonderful or revolting.

Fuck it just stay home and eat fruit loops

I once drove to Canada while in college in search of Canadian bacon. I came back disappointed.

Canadian bacon is awful, unless there is some mysterious style that is kept secret from all non-Canadians.

Now, if we are talking prosciutto or iberico, that is another story. I'd definitely take that over bacon...well except pancetta. I love pancetta. So I dunno, I still prefer bacon.

Question for the koreans: do you guys eat jacked-up stuff only if it comes from the ocean?

I work with deer mice and our primary projects involve "reproductivity"...so we're working with mouse sperm and oocytes on a regular basis.

If I shipped some mouse ovaries, testicles, semen, eggs, etc to you, would you guys find a way to eat them?

I'm surprised I haven't seen "pumpkin spice" (contains no pumpkin ... it's just the seasoning used in pumpkin pies to make it taste OK)

I like several of the "pumpkin spiced" items, like donuts, but the trend keeps growing into more odd uses every year.

I enjoy it also, but I always roll my eyes when I see the ridiculous pumpkin stuff that gets released. I tolerate it since it emphasizes my favorite time of year, and it goes away soon enough.

You just threw in strawberries to see if anyone was reading your posts, right?

Haha. Hell no... WAY overrated. And I'm a huge fruit fan. They're alright, I don't hate them, but man there's way too many strawberry flavored things.

Fruit that is way better than strawberries: Granny smith apples, pineapple, kiwi, concord grapes, apple/asian pears, papaya, blackberries, raspberries, etc.

You need to try strawberries from other countries. It's not all the same. US strawberries are usually little sour and finding sweet ones are difficult even in peak season. Strawberries in Korea and Japan are so much better. If you ever visit, try the strawberries there if it's in season. I think you'll be shocked at the flavor difference. You'll realize this is what strawberries are supposed to taste like, sweet and juicy. Not sour and bland like US strawberries. Of course, you'll pay arm and a leg for any fruit there. But things like strawberries are worth the extra price.

That's a good point, I'm used to the typical US ones. I've had wild strawberries and ones fresh from the farm and while they're ok, like I said, highly overrated. I'll have to keep in mind to try and find some from other countries, that's a good idea!

I pick my own strawberries, so that's where I know I get exactly the right strawberry taste. However, anything 'strawberry' is mostly chemicals to mimic the flavor and the smell. It ain't strawberry.
