Most overrated team in the NFL

Without a doubt, it's the chargers.

I go to school in SD, but unlike every other person who is non-native to SD, I have not jumped on this bandwagon.

The offense is electrifying at times, yes. But all too often they fail to score inside the redzone. It seems like the offense is completely lost if Phillip rivers can't throw a deep bomb or a little dump screen to Sproles. The other problem is the ridiculous one-dimensional play calling by Norv Turner. The guy is an offensive genius and the chargers have so many weapons. Was a handoff to sproles straight up the gut when the ravens had the line stacked really the best play they could come up with? A toss or a play action and today's game goes to SD.

The defense is absolutely horrendous. They've got a decent secondary, but that's it. Shawn Merriman is a joke. If the chargers don't start shooting him up again, they might as well cut him. All he's good for is rushing the passer. He can't tackle and God forbid he has to drop back into coverage. In a 3-4 defense, he's nothing but a roaming defensive lineman. In a 4-3, he's riding the pine.

What ticks me off the most is the bandwagon fans. All I ever hear is "super bowl, super bowl, super bowl". How about a winning record in the worst division in football first? Season starts, there are charger flags on cars and charger jerseys EVERYWHERE. Season ends and no charger fan is anywhere to be found.

Are you talking about over the last few seasons or this one in particular? Thus far, I'd say New England is the most overrated team out there. I'm a NE fan, but there have been so many changes on offense and defense that the team just isn't playing well. Maybe they'll put it together but right now they have a defense that can't stop anyone, an offense that can't score, and crappy special teams.

And remember, stupid analysts were picking them to win it all.

I'm talking about the last few seasons. They went 13-3, choked, but ever since then their shit don't stink.

Last year for example, the chargers started 1-4 and everyone including XX Sports Radio said they were done, sucked, blah blah. They make the playoffs by a miracle at 8-8 and all the sudden those same people are hootin and hollering about being a championship team.

Being a Browns fan, I would say they are. The league makes them actually play each week even though it's a sure loss.

Well you have a terrible head coach (Norv knows his offense, but has NEVER taken a team to that "next level" as a head coach), a whiny QB, and no defense.

Not exactly a winning combination.

For this season so far, the most overrated is the Patriots. For multiple seasons, it definitely isn't.

The Chargers get hit with injuries every year. I believe they would have won ONE Super Bowl at this point if it weren't for injuries.

Yes, talking about LaDanian Tomlimson. 2006 was a great year for him but New England was the better team.

Every other year though, injuries prevented him from contributing. A healthy Tomlimson is better than a lot of backs in the league.

Look at tonight's game...the Chargers ground game was so good that Philip Rivers threw for a measly 436 yards. I mean, it really helped grind out a loss against the Ravens.

They have better things to do like be assholes on the road.

I think there are three groups - die hards, bandwagoners, and NFL/Football fans who probably have a different team they like that doesn't directly compete with the chargers so they'll root for the chargers too since the hometown "fanbase" is so ever present.

There are definitely true charger fans, but it seems like a lot of fans also root for another team and would root for that other team over them. And then of course a lot of fans are just on the bandwagon

Yes. Today they got smoked by a rookie QB and a rookie Head Coach. And to be honest, despite the slobbering that will be generated by the pundits by this win and the 2-0 record... I don't think the Jets are that good.

NE lucked out against Buffalo and were exposed by the Jets.

the pats will be alright. losing to a very good jets D on the road is not a shocker.

they need galloway to either step up or get off the field though. frankly, i'm not sure his tank isn't empty.

Atlanta can, at times, have an especially fickle fan base as well...although let's be honest, for most people, it's just not much fun to continually cheer for a losing team. That, and empty seats usually lead to restructuring of some sort.

As for most overrated team, I would've gone with Houston a week ago, but they did a decent job bouncing back this week. Jets D looks pretty darn strong. NE will likely end up being at least average. So I'm not sure who to go with at this point...maybe Tennessee's defense?

I'd love to see them go 8-8.
