Most Quiet Case??

Looking for a super quiet cases, any suggestions? Thanks!

May want to check out the Antec series, specifically the Antec P180 or Antec Solo. They are both extremely quiet. I think they even incorporate sound dampeneing material around the case as well as rubber grommets for the screw assemblies and a suspension mounting system for hdd's. I can't completely verify this---I am ordering the Solo this weekend so I haven't physically seen these. The reviews give a pretty good description though.

mcurphy, read the SPCR review of the P180 first before you order the solo. IMO, the P180 is the quietest case hands down. The light in my room is louder than this baby =D

The P180 is not the quietest case, it's a good mixture between noise and cooling. If you want quiet then look at the P150 or the Antec 900.

The best way to quiet a computer is to use quiet components, only serrious modding can make a maxtor III serries HD quiet, but suspension alone is enough to make a Samsung Spinpoint very quiet.

Zalman TNN300/500. They are quite expensive though (and difficult to set up).

Nice to know. I didn't know for sure which was quieter than the other. I was just posting a few that I knew were quiet from personal research, not necesarily the quietest. I'm sure there are quieter options out there. Bu anyhow, I decided to go for the Solo over the P180 because I like the looks and design better than the P180. The ultimate quiet solution was not what I was looking for, just somehting above average.

Sorry OP, I guess I should have stated that these are quiet options, but not necessarily the "Most Quiet Case" as you requested. I hope I didn't mislead you!

Quiet components are very important. However, the same components would be quieter in a P180 than in the 900. There is just way too many places in that case for sound to escape. Not so much in the 180.

silentpcreview is a good resource... this article lists their basic recommendations... so, unless your willing to dump over a grand into one of those ridiculous fanless zalman cases, the antec p180 is probably your best bet. it's supposed to have fantastic cooling and be very quiet, all at a very reasonable price (BB had it for $80)...

Yeah, my main rig (P180) with 4x120mm fans (yate loons) and a Zalman 9500 hsf is very quiet (with fan controller). The noise is very bearable and that is with 4 hard drives one of which is a raptor. Whenever I turn on my file server I almost cry. It used to not bother me, but then I built the dual-core system and it just rocks. My file server is in a P180. Wish I could make it as quiet as the main rig but I like the cooling.

One thing that's not immediately apparent with the P180 is that the walls have 3 layers, to reduce noise and resonance. The silicon HDD mounting grommets are much better than the rubber grommets that Antec has used in the past. But suspension system in the P150/Solo is definitely better than grommets at all. With the P180, the PSU is at the bottom so that heat leaving the CPU doesn't heat up the PSU ramping up its fan speeds.

When it gets down to it, you could probably go either case and it won't be a big deal. After all, as others have said it's what you put inside your case that's more important.

Look into the Swiftech P180 solution. It's basically an Antec P180 specifically modified for their watercooler for minimum noise.

For a mid-tower case I'd suggest the Enermax Chakra as a consideration. With the right 120mm fans this baby is very quiet.
