Glock, Springfield Armory, Walther (and by extension S&W) all make fine pistols. You can't go wrong.

By and large: Glock, with Sig and HK a close second. Kimber supposedly makes the most reliable 1911's. S&W makes the best revolvers.
3rd place for quality goes to Springfield and Walther (non-S&W).

My only beef is Glock doesnt make pocket pistols, and their so-called subcompacts are pretty fat. The Sig 238 is probably the best subcompact around.

Glock and Sig would be my top two. Can't see that there's much difference between them in that respect.

I'm going with Jules.

Glock, sig, and beretta for what you have on the list. S&W's quality has gone down over the years, Ruger is still a little shaky with most of their autos, Para as long as you don't get a doublestack 1911 seem to be fine, but their springs are a little finicky.

Almost all 1911's are pretty bulletproof though, especially the series 70 models. In those you can't go wrong with a kimber, colt, RIA, and the other higher end ones.

Talking with FFL's I'm acquainted with they see S&W's coming back all the time, as well as the lower end rugers.

You also don't have springfield on the list. Their XD series is very very popular and I've heard of very few people having issues with them in any size.

My Springfield XD9 Service has 3000 rounds through it now and has never had any malfunctions and shoots every type of ammo I've thrown at it.
Unfortunately it's a bit bulky to carry regularly which is why I have a PF-9 on the way. It'll probably never see 3000 rounds.

Any reason you decided not to go with a sub compact XD?

I have a quick question about handguns (don't mean to hijack this thread). The Glock 19 Pistol, PI1950203, fits my hand perfectly and is legendary when it comes to durability (from what I have read). My only thing is it doesn't have a safety switch. Is there another 9mm that's basically as much similar to it but comes with a safety switch? I'm willing to spend up to around 800 bucks. Also, any recommended online gun dealer for it?

It has an internal safety and will never fire unless you pull the trigger. Don't worry about it.

The Springfield XD9 is very similar to the Glock 19. Springfield always brings up the backstrap safety when comparing it to the Glock. It doesn't have a safety switch, but the backstrap safety prevents it from possibly catching on something that pulls the trigger because you must be gripping the gun for it to fire.

I still wouldn't worry too much about it. I have a Glock 19 myself and you can't really shoot it without trying. When I hear about accidental shootings I always shake my head. They are so easily preventable with just a tiny bit of common sense and training. You could fit all the really important important gun safety rules on a notecard. Having a manual safety switch won't prevent accidental shootings if the person holding the gun doesn't bother learning a few basic rules.

There is only one safety, between your ears.
All others just create a false sense of security and lead to bad habits eventually.
Also, combat pistols dont have safeties, thats one more thing to go wrong when your life is on the line.
Get used to using some sort of holster and keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to kill something.

All brands listed, and even many unlisted will be quality guns. I've heard about failures with all brands so there's no "perfect" manufacturer or gun.

Honestly, I've never had a pistol misfire. I've had failure to feed, but only with my .22.
