Questionable band names, some great albums. I imagine the names alone keep a fair amount of people from even considering a listen.
Well, they're no secret. I sometimes think of what Ray Manzarek said, when they were good, they were really good. When they weren't good, well, they weren't. Don't know the exact quote. I bought their first album when it came out, thought it was terrific, listened to it a lot! Most all their albums, really all I can think of, are very very worth listening to. They did not stagnate. I can't stand to hear Television's Marquee Moon any more. It's one of those songs that just wears very very thin after hearing it too many times. It's also the only song of theirs that I've paid any attention to.Television

From that era, The Mamas and the Papas and The Lovin' Spoonful. From the modern era (and more metal/hard rock) Darkest Hour, August Burns Red, Coheed and Cambria, Opeth, In Flames, Parkway Drive to name a few.
