A trio of girls called SheDaisy are, I think, one of the most overlooked bands out there. They are a country group, but it doesn't sound very traditional country-like. Their lyrics are very poetic, and they still fit into a song. I know that there aren't many people here who listen to country, but if you're interested, you can find out more at www.shedaisy.com

What are some that you think are overlooked?

Opeth: I am sure by now, some, if not many of you, have heard Opeth before. They are, IMO the greatest band that has ever been. They started off as a Melodic Death Metal band, but now play progressive metal. Even though their style has completely changed, they are still very good. The Vocalist & Guitarrist Mikael Akerfeldt, Has also been involved in other great bands/side Projects Bloodbath, Katatonia, and Edge of Sanity. Even if you don't like metal, you should give Opeth a listen. They are not like other bands.

Isacaarum: Only a few people I know have actually heard them and they are so damn good. They are a Death/Grind band with a lot of potential.

Silent Stream of Godless Elegy: They are totally unique, No other band sounds anything Like them. They have been around for quite some time, and almost nobody I know had even heard of them (before they knew me at least). I can not classify them in a specific Genre. The music is very melodic. They use many instruments that are usually not found in metal. (ie Viola and Cello)

Abigor: Not only are these guys extremely extremely heavy, but they actually know how to play their instruments quite well too. IMO they are the greatest Harmonic Black Metal band around.

Haggard: This band is what happens if you mix classical with Metal. The band has about 20 members and they play a massive variety of instruments. Everything is pieced together greatly and the band just sounds friggin awesome.

and Most Underrated New/Recent Band; The Black Dahlia Murder: I first heard these guys a couple weeks ago, they play death metal the way it is supposed to be played. The drummer is quite skilled and nails everything perfectly. They don't do anything fancy or overly complicated, howeverl they play very very good. They play Technical Death Metal the way it ought to be played.

David Ryan Harris - if you watched SNL last night, he was the black guy on the acoustic for John Mayer. besides working with John, he's also worked with other big name bands such as DMB, Mariah Carey, Santana, Edwin McCain, and many others. He was the lead guitarist/vocals for the early '90s funk group Follow For Now, the '01 rock group Brand New Immortals, and led his solo effort in between the two, as well as more recently.

you can find a couple songs from each band for download here on the multimedia page

Finger Eleven. Their first and second albums were phenomenal. Their latest album isn't quite as good, but still better than anything on the radio today.
Dredg. Very unknown band. Style is similar to A Perfect Circle.

Yes...opeth rocks.
Another great band that not many people have heard of is Agalloch. I dont know what kind of music it would be considered as, melodic doom metal or something like that?

There are a ton of other bands out there too, Symphony X, Luca Turilli, Vader, etc.

Big Wreck. Super-talented musicians from Berkley who play a blend of Zepplin/Soundgarden rock. Very talented, very original.

DoubleDrive. More radio-friendly rock, but better than the crap they actually play on the radio. Just hard-hitting rock with a great singer.

TK421. Unsigned band that you can find on MP3.com. More good straight-ahead rock. http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/442/tk-421.html

I like my rock the way it used to be. Not fused with funk, ska, techno, rap, hip-hop.
