I love your list, though I'd still argue against TQ being underrated.

Ohhhh, Dreamfall and TLJ. Hope they are working on the third one.

I pray...but probably not until they finish up with Secret World. LJ series is a trilogy though.

sorry guys, i bought TQ gold and have been playing it but i began to realize again why i can never get into RPG games. i've been forcing myself to play the last couple days and it's been no fun. in addition to one thing i can't stand in games, which is having to go through listening to NPCs blab on, it's got very repetitive action and bothersome inventory management (collecting, selling, caravaning, equipping, etc.). i understand this is one of the best action RPGs but i'm afraid i'm just not cut out for them. to be fair, i don't think it's just RPGs, i can't get myself interested in any games that have a deep story mode where i need to pay attention to a lot of things.

oh well, back to multiplayer fps games for me...

ACT OF WAR wa an amazing game with very good gfx and interesting story... Sadly it did not get much attention.

Someone already mentioned Septerra Core, but it was also a great game that many seemed to ignore.

I loved Nexus: The Jupiter Incident, but I hardly ever saw anyone mention it.

You don't have to listen to any NPCs in the game at all. Just like in real life, you can walk away from any conversation. It isn't necessary to know the story at all. To this day I couldn't tell you the point to the story, I just kill stuff. The game is linear enough that you don't have to worry about getting lost.

Agreed, however, because it is a Diablo clone, it did not get as much as it should have when compared to others like Darkstone, Revenant, etc. which are no where near as good as Diablo or Titan Quest. Diablo deserves it place in the hallowed halls of gaming for what it was, is, and did, but Titan Quest is overshadowed by it.

It's like Baldur's Gate overshadowing Icewind Dale. Even though one is superior to the other, does not mean that the lesser is not good as well.

In the end, this is the effect TQ had on me.

I really enjoyed it for a few days, but after that I had to force myself to keep playing.

I never even finished the original. My HD started acting up, so I backed up my TQ save games. Maybe one of these days I'll redownload it off of steam; by now I'm starting to doubt it.

But I'm one of those guys for whom beating Diablo once was enough. I can see why certain gamers love this game (it does look good).

But you can't make a point without tasteless hyperbole. It's sad how many people try to use profanity and such to try to make their post more noticed.

Here, you try to replace the actual issue - debating whether the game is good or bad - with a denial of that discussion by simply using loaded words assuming the answer is yours.

Why, yes, that's exactly what those who disagree with you are asking you to do, to tea bag hyped games. Posting 'style' like that above is a bit like graffiti, just hurting discussion.

If this were a most overrated thread, I think I might be the one person listing Sid Meier's games, including Civ, which I've bought every version of and played a decent amount.

But it's not, I'll scan the library for some ideas - though one off the top of my head is "Heaven and Earth", an outstanding puzzle game almost no one's heard of.

Casual games get short shrift, but I had fun with 'Peggle' and 'Luxor 2', so they might count as 'underrated' here.

The Last Express deserves credit for trying to do something new in adventures. Didn't sell well.

I haven't played them, but based on reviews and no attention here, might 'Incredible Machine' and 'Crazy Machine' series be underrated?

I think Uprising was underrated at the time, but it probably is all but unplayable now.

Uplink perhaps.

Jagged Alliance 2 was considered great by many who played it but I'm not sure it sold a lot.

Can't say first hand, but possible entries include "The Experiment", "Space Rangers".

I thought the Warlords series was great and underrated.

I thought space ranger 2 reboot was great and also king bounty the legend (though it is a rather new game).

THAT was a unique and fun experience. Does it run in Vista? I might have to reinstall it later.

Titan Quest is a great game, but it is in no way underrated. Way better than Diablo and I don't expect Diablo 3 to be better. It is so sad that piracy killed the developer. A solid game with a solid expansion, anyone who doesn't have it should go pick it up at D2D right now. Another game in that genre is Sacred, and another developer that bit the dust. Diablo 3 will finally be released after all their competition is gone. Blizzard'd success has a lot to do with their timing

ok, first of all, Diablo 3 will kick the crap out of titan quest. second, titan quest only exists because of diablo. third, it really wasn't that great. improved graphics but not much more. obviously it is a solid game because it is a D2 clone.

my vote goes to rainbow 6: rogue spear. It was probably one of the first multiplayer FPS games that I played that I really loved. I think it was very underrated at the time and it was way ahead of its time

I've never heard anyone say anything remotely negative about Fallout or Fallout 2.

That's the same for NOLF2, Titan Quest, Beyond Good and Evil, etc.

It's just that while they were critically praised, it wasn't much of a commercial success (I've run into several people who played Baldur's Gate/Ultima, but not Fallout 1/2)

I thought Dark Messiah was rather well done and a bit disappointed the developers were punished for it.

This is another "buggy as hell" but awesome once fixed games. I didn't care for the multiplayer (I would have prefered co-op or something) but the single player was pretty epic and the melee combat was really fun.

Really, my only complaint about it was that the boot was obviously way to powerful.

I recently finished playing Bloodlines for the first time last month. Great game! However, the reason it was overlooked was because, even though it used the HL2 engine, it was released before HL2, showing you how fast the game was thrown together. The community has been throwing together unofficial patches ever since. The 1.6 patch was released recently.

If you patch it, you should have a much more fun time with the game.

I thought the story was it was developed with an early version of the HL2 engine and they worked crunch time hours nonstop for 3 years so that it would release more or less in tandem with HL2. (I believe their licensing agreement prevented them from releasing first)

I just did my first play through and am playing again with a Malk right now. Granted, I'm playing with the 6.5 unofficial patch but it wasn't to bad bug wise. I saw speed skating people in towns fairly often and encountered a couple of "stuck" sequences that required reloading.

But the art direction is amazing, the characters beatifully done, the voice acting is really a notch above (with a few exceptions), dialog options are often hilarious and unlike most Oblivion quests I actually felt a general sense of satisfaction in completing most of them. I felt like it did a better job of not having a ton of "useless" skills then many other rpgish games I've played.

It did have some bugs, was actually pretty linear aside from side quests and the combat was never really a high point for me, although it wasn't bad.

All the CODs, MoHs, RO, and any other WWII FPS you can name PALES in comparison to Day of Defeat, a fucking half-life mod! Simply the best online game play ever created.

Hotshots Golf: Out of Bounds 2nd in online game play. Very underrated in the US, Japan plays the shit out of it though.
