Well guys, it's time time again(no, not that time Ray); we're nearing Team Anandtech's birthday. As the "terrible two's" come to an end, it's time to prepare for the main festivity of our birthday, the Most Valuable Cracker contest.

The MVC contest was estabilished at the end of the first year year in order to honor those that put forth all the energy they could for TA; by doing such things as cracking an amazing amount of WU's for TA, organizing new members, or even someone who provides moral support; the conditions are endless. So, these people are honored by bestowing the titles of most valuable cracker, and 9 other Highly Valuable Crackers.

This award(won by Dennilfloss last year) is handed out as early as possible on Dec. 26(upon which time voting ends); TA's birthday, to which the HVCs get a day's worth of WUs in whatever project from myself from myself(and a week's worth for the MVC), along with any other blocks that come from other member's admiration.

The rules for voting go like this: Each member of Team Anandtech is entitled to 5 votes, where none can be for themself. Each vote is fully equal, and order doesn't matter. You may vote for anyone that's a TA member, and a reason for that vote is reccomended, in order to get more people to vote that way.

Also, you retain the right to change your vote any time between now, and when the contest results are annouced. The person with the most votes wins the title of MVC of Year 3; whereas the 9 closest runner-ups each get the title of HVC.

Being chosen as a MVC or HVC is considered a great honor by most, so pick carefully.:Q Good luck to everyone, and here's to a happy birthday for Team Anandtech!

PS Anyone wanting to do a secret ballot can email their votes to me, and I'll add them to a tally and delete the email

Wasn't around here last year so I dont' know how this goes but I'll try.

OhioDude - Elite and humble
Smokeball - maybe the most dedicated to bettering this team (and a big neffer)
Networkman - good friend and always willing to contribute from the "basement of parts"
Grant - not only produces the most WUs but does it consistently and who can forget the great commentary in the MTRs?
Orange Kid - shouldn't he win this every year?

(you sure I can't vote for myself?)

[EDIT] Read NWM's post and I agree no member of Team Anandtech has gone through more for this TeAm than dmcowen674. I propose that this year the voting only be for HVC's because to me it is clear who our MVC is.

BTW thanks for the extra reading material NWM.

well here goes

RaySun2Be- all around great guy, and great team member.
Orange Kid- where would we be without that Proxy(not looking at as many stats, thats for sure)
hellburner- the first thing I do when I come to the foums everyday is read the daily team stats. Gotta love those
Ohio dude- Seti milestones and races done by him, and great commentary
Sukhoi- All I have to say is "help thread"

Edit: I'm sorry that I left a few people out, that deserved mentioning just as much as those mentioned, but hey, I can only get 5 votes.

I've only been on the TeAm for a few months, but here goes nothing...

In no particular order, of course:

Smokeball - Friendly, devoted, welcomes all new members to the SETI TeAm, provides what we all crave: STATS!
OhioDude - The commentary alone is my vote, nevermind the work done to provide daily race stats.
MereMortal - For all of his stats work on the ECCp-109 TeAm.
Hellburner - Rock solid daily SETI stats for how long now?
Robor - 63+ years of CPU time sounds pretty valuable to me!

Edit: I regret I have but 5 votes to give when there are so many deserving.

In no particular order:

Orange Kid - I download SETI WUs from him.
Hellburner - Posts stats before I wake up(and I'm in the east coast)
OhioDude - Lame commentary/stats
JWMiddleton - I don't think he gets his output from his work PCs. Not to take anything away from those who do(like myself ), but his output is impressive.
Thunderbooty - I don't know if he does DC, but I thought you all should read his name at least once if you hadn't already.

I apologize to the non-SETI guys for the snub . I just don't get to click on every thread

Hmm.. just 5 people.. so MANY valuable people on TA though..

Okay:

dmcowen674: [RC5] He's hanging in there and fighting the tyranny of Georgia's system!
Baldy18: He voted for me! That and he's very enthusiastic - both online and off.
RaySun2Be: Great guy, good to have "old" people like him I can easily relate to!
Smokeball: Friendly, devoted, welcomes all new members to the SETI TeAm, provides what we all crave: STATS! Roger that!
Robor: An inspiration to SETI folks everywhere - pretty cool guy too.

seria... - Oops...

Here goes my vote:

OhioDude - Great commentary every morning
Smokeball - The biggest cheerleader of the Team Anandtech
OrangeKid - Get this Minnesota man some credit!
soni - Best Team Stats site available IMHO. Not to mention the MTR snapshots he provided. (How could I miss you in my nomination? Sorry )

Smokeball: He really started on a roll with subbing for Hellburner for a week, after that came the 1PM CDT/CST stats updates, the many member welcome threads, and did a great deal of work setting up our latest MTR. And let's not forget his Team Smokeball, which cranks out a lot of WUs
Orange Kid: OK seems to have his fingers in every DC project, but to me, his nomination comes from his work for the SETI TeAm: weekly and monthly stats, and, more importantly, his great proxy server.
OhioDude: He does hard work every single morning with his Seti Race Stats and Milestones, and the commentary is always fantastic
Hellburner: For as long as I've been here, HB has been doing the daily SETI team stats every morning, and to my recollection, he's only missed 1 day, not counting the week he was away.
Eponymous/Grant: Not only does this guy produce more WUs in a week than I've done in my entire year of SETI, he did a lot of great work with the first 2 MTRs, as well as getting the ball rolling on this one.

5 votes is so few, because I think there are many people, including non-SETI people (sorry guys, I don't read much other than SETI stuff) who come to mind as deserving of this award, such as:
Sukhoi with his SETI Help Thread
RaySun2Be, always a great source of humour and inspiration, and he used to do the RC5 Milstone Makers thread.
TwoFace, who now does the RC5 Milestone Makers thread.
MereMortal with all his ECCp stats work.
Robor... SO MANY WUs!
Soni who provides a great stats site, and provides hosting for the SETI MTRs.

And, I'm sure I've forgotten some of the accomplishments of the people who I listed, and that I've omitted some very deserving non-SETI members, as well as SETI members.

Smokeball, Gentlemen from the South, Put's in a good deal of time for the TeAm.
Sukhoi, Answer's those down and dirty questions few have answer's for.
Robor, First in wu's gets my vote.
Grant, An up and coming young Buck... that may take over 1st place one day.
Ohiodude, What more can you say about his race stats

I've edited my entry and limited my vote to four, as I really can't pick just one person as the 5th.
Robor - Consistently high output and top cruncher on the TeAm
Grant - Consistently high output plus he started the Mini-TeAm Races which has contributed to our overall WU production
dmcowen674 ? Fighting for the rights of all of us to continue crunching DC projects
OrangeKid - With the TeAm Proxy and His World Class Stats, OK has to be included!

I am sorry that I am limited to only five nominations as we have lots of deserving members! Such as Hellburner, Soni, Smokeball, Ohiodude, Sukhoi, Rowdy Ray, NWM, Wiz, TwoFace, Hack, Baz and ISoS ?and the list goes on! I apologize that my experience is limit to SETI@Home; thus, I don't know enough about the other projects to include but a few of their names. Mech, Bot2600 and DanC do come to mind for their help with David's plight. Thanks to all of you! We have a lot of new members and folks like Virge, who started this thead, are unknown to them. Many of the nominees from prior years have faded into near oblivion with the rise of SETI. How times change!

My choices are very ECCp-centric:

MereMortal - Top motivator and stats
RC - For all the work on the new stats system
dmcowen674 - shouldn't have to go through this
bob970 - fresh enthusiastic talent
BitSpit - a personal choice because of my race with him to 10k

dmcowen674 as MVC.

and as far as HVC, all my other votes go to the entire team, as in Team Anandtech. Everyone is a Highly Valued Cracker in my book, no matter what DC project you are running.

[edit]
Excluding myself according to the rules, as GulDakat pointed out.

Ditto what RaySun2Be said! However, since we aren't allowed to vote for ourselves (Ray forgot this rule--probably waving his cane at someone), I'll modify what he said to say:

dmcowen674 for MVC;

TeamAnandtech(excluding GulDukat) as HVC for my other votes.

David is Definately #1. ( dmcowen674 )

For runners up, We have:

OhioDude -- 'Cause he gets everyone to produce more WU's with his Great Commentary!
Orange Kid -- Who else has that much extra bandwidth?
Sukhoi -- For his great help threads!

I will reserve my other vote until I have thought about this for a while. 5 is not enough

I want to give runner-up props to Ray, and Dukat for being their annoying selves. you have geven me many a great belly laugh with your bickering Keep it up

Here's my votes:
Hellburner - his morning stats posts are much appreciated and are always the first thread I read in the morning

Orangekid - For his proxy server, which I use a lot and has saved me many a WU that would otherwise have been lost to outages.

Ohiodude - he puts an amazing amount of work into his daily stats and commentary

JWMiddleton - a great team member whose numbers have been steadily climbing since I joined

Robor - Stunning output on a daily basis :Q

There are lots of other deserving candidates, of course, but I only had five spots to work with
