I don't know about violent, but what always sticks in my mind is watching a movie where someone get shot, but the gun fires and the person gets hit in the same cut. It's kind of hard to explain, but an excellent example of this was the bathroom scene in Full Metal Jacket when that guy blows his brains out.

Just about all movies have the gun fire and the victim getting hit in different cuts, but this one was an exception.

Hard To say but the Jesus beating in Passion really tore into me, and the other one that bugged me was the Toture scene in a Japanese Movie called Audition. When She is twisting in the Needles it sounds like she is saying "here kitty kitty", so now I kick every cat I see.

that movie was irreversible, and it was monica bellucci.

i'll second that nomination, just because of how long and drawn out the rape and the various beatings were. He literally bashes at his face with that fire extinguisher for 5 minutes, until it becomes an unidentifiable, pulpy mess. Monica Bellucci, after being violently raped for the better part of 10 minutes, gets her face kicked in, nose broken, etc, etc.

Yep I've seen almost every one of the movies listed in this thread and Irreversible takes the cake as most violent/disturbing movie (to me anyways). Most of the other violent/disturbing movies don't bother me because they seem fake or don't go into too much detail.

American History X curb scene...Saving Private Ryan opening scene...child's play when compared to Irreversible. Irreversible makes them all look like My Little Pony. A 10 minute rape scene that doesn't cut away and is up close makes you almost physically ill. That scene made me so pissed off at the rapist in that movie even though it was just a movie. It made me feel as if the death penalty was too easy of a punishment for rape.

Yup - that was the most disturbing part of the whole movie, IMO. I felt bad also for the guy that got shot in the throat and was struggling while the two guys fought with each other. *shudder*

But in actuality, the most disturbing scene in a movie I've seen actually came from the Animatrix -- the Second Renaissance Part 2 -- when the machine rips one of the humans out of his robo-suit and leaves the limbs behind. The pleas for mercy and the screams the human made haunt me to this day.

The D-Day sequence for Saving Private Ryan was pretty crazy. As were several scenes in History of Violence. I think some of the violence in Passion of the Christ was really bad too. Like Ebert (i think ebert said) "If it was anyone other then Jesus no one would watch this, it is so disgusting".

pretty much any seen from the origional cannibal holocoust. the scene where the women is tied up, stripped naked, beaten, raped, violated with a large rock and then beaten to death with said rock stands out in my mind. or and don't forget that poor tutle....

The first 20 minutes of Saving Private Ryan were pretty intense. It didn't make me say "holy ....", but thought it was fairly realistic looking.

What did make me say "holy....." was watching deeply disturbed people getting up from their seats and walking out of the theater during that section of the film. Geez, what did they expect, the normal hollyweird version of war, where 7 gajillion rounds are fired and the worst wound is a hangnail??? :roll:

Ichi the killer gets my vote too. There's no way American films can top this one. The Japanese are crazy.

The 1st 10 minutes of Saving Private Ryan. Specifically the guy missing his lower half with his intestines hanging out screaming for his mom. Not that I wasn't expecting stuff like that, but the fact that crap like that actually happend kinda drove it home.

faces of death. the magician who got impaled by the bed of spikes and then when they lifted the bed and his eyeball went up with one of the spikes stands out to me. same goes for the guy who got drawn and quartered by horses. i know that sh*t is faker than pamela anderson's hooters but still...

Yeah, this one gets my vote too. I tried to purge it from my mind shortly after seeing it. Simply disturbing. Movies like that bring out the self-righteousness in me. The entire time I wanted to kill said rapist for what he was doing.

Also, the Exmortis flash games win my vote for my OMG moment. Nothing too horrible, but its the most graphic flash game I've seen. Depressing as hell too.

The anniversary re-release has an alternate angle where you see a dead on shot where the ear comes off. I almost threw up watching that the first time, even though I knew what happens.

The surgery in Black Hawk Down at the end where they're digging around in the guy's leg trying to stop the bleeding was pretty bad too. Not only did it make me feel physically ill, it was pretty emotional too since the medic was trying to hard to save the guy from dying and talking to him the whole time.

CSI on TV used to have some pretty disgusting shots. I remember one episode of CSI:Las Vegas where they found a guy who had died in his bathtub and partially decomposed. The bathtub was full of liquid and what can basicly be described as "dead body decomp soup".

They showed a close up shot of them bailing the liquid out of the tub into smaller buckets and I almost threw up. It's as close as I've ever come to almost throwing up from something I saw on TV or in a movie. I instinctivly leaned over in the chair and was ready to throw up right into the cold air return of our furnace. Luckily I got myself under control, because that would have been a nasty mess to clean up.
