OK, not ALL of them suck.

But the ones that squander $160,000 in life insurance money in 1 year, start surfing the internet for a new husband 1 month after theirs dies, marries one after meeting in person once, falls for online money laundering scams, won't apply for SS survivor benefits because she's too prideful to accept money from the government, squanders another $15,000 in life insurance money in 3 months when her mother dies, can't hold down a job, calls at least once a month after 10pm crying because she doesn't feel good and wants someone to sit with her (eats too much candy to artificially raise her blood sugar for sympathy), and begs for money all the time but refuses to sell her computer and LCD TV to pay rent because "she has sacrificed enough."

Cliffs:

My mother in law is the bane of my existence.

I concur. She sucks.

What exactly does she think she has sacrificed??

As long as he continues to adore her, take good care of her, raise their two (soon to be 3) children with the love and attention that he does, works hard to keep the bills paid, stays in school one class at a time to get that advanced degree, and so on, and make us all laugh with his crazy sense of humor, I'll hold off on the brimstone.

Sometimes it's fun to be an in-law.
I think you have reached your comma usage quota for the week.

I wish I had a MIL that sucked.

 even one as bat shit crazy as the OP's?

My future MIL is. She's threatened to kill herself on numerous occasions whenever attention is drawn away from her. This is most likely to happen around holidays, when said attention is away from her. She's two-faced and talks shit about everyone as soon as their back is turned. She's also very spiteful and tries turning her grandkids against her son in law/daughters in law by warping their mind, "Tell mommy she needs to learn how to cook and tell her you like my cooking better". I once went to visit a friend at her birthday party to say and drop a gift off. This was shortly after my fiance gave birth to our daughter and MIL dearest swooped into the bedroom as soon as I left, spouting, "Where did he go? I bet he's off looking for some slut who isn't fat like you since you just had a kid", etc etc. She doesn't drive on highways because she's scared, but will tell you how to drive and get pissy if you don't listen to her. Umm, the list just keeps and keeps fuckin going.

My fiance realizes this is psychotic behavior and doesn't feed into it anymore, luckily.

I'm never getting married so I don't know wat you're talking about, nor will I ever.

But if I do get married, I certainly won't be bothering to care what the "family" says.

I dated a girl for 3 years, total. During that time I realized that her mother was not right in the head. I'd say OCD with sociopathic tendencies. The mom (not hot, btw...) had clothes, boxes, knicknaks, etc piled 6 feet hight on her bed (only enough empty space for her to crawl into) all around her entire room, covering the windows, in the bathroom, etc. The kitchen table was piled two feet high (literally) with every piece of mail she'd ever received. She'd get a CC bill, tear of the "return this part" send that, but keep the envelope it came in, etc.

After a year of dating the girl, I realized she was exhibiting traits that her mom had. I should've split, but hung around...for the FWB stuff. Later, I got distant, she got nuts and I bailed.

Sorry, OP that your MIL is fucking batshitcoveredballs crazy, but you had ample warning before you married into the family. GL with the divorce.

No, wife and I got married before FIL passed away. After he was gone, the MIL really went nuts. She was bearable before that happened.
