motherboard beeping and IDE drives not getting detected

I just got a DFI Ultra-D, and I am having a few problems. it wont detect my IDE drives, I've tried every combination of IDE-1 and IDE-2 and master/slave combo's and the best I can get it to do is detect the secondary slave (my cd burner) but not my DVD drive or either of my 2 Hard Drives. it gives me a 9beep ring when it boots, basically a 3tone ring repeated 3 times, and then it tried to detect the drives but doesnt. anyone know whats wrong?

full specs are
AMD 3500+
nvidia 6800GT PCIe
DFI LANParty UT nF4 Ultra-D
2 sticks of 512mb DDR-400 ram
1 Maxtor 200gb HD & 1 Maxtor 250gb HD
Sony DVD rom Drive
Plextor 12/10/32 cd burner.
Amamax 650w power supply

also someone mentioned that it might be the RAM, but I just tried switching out the RAM with another computer and tried using both 1 & 2 sticks, still wont work

I got a pm to check the PSU and RAM again. so I just went through and swapped all the IDE devices again to no avail, and swapped power supplies and RAM again, still stuck
with the wierd beep tone and no detection of IDE devices.

check the maunal or manufactor of the mother board

also try taking the ram out if it makes the same beeps theres soem thing wrong with the ram

try each ram stick alone if u havent

May sound silly, but make sure the video card is plugged in all the way!

ok, well...got rid of the beeping sound.


evidently all of my hard drives and CDrom drives are toast...

tried using parts from another computer, the beeping stopped and the devices got detected, but when I try and reinstall windows, it just crashed, from two different discs.

now it tries to find a RAID array every time I boot it, even though I have raid disabled...and sits there and does nothing...just the Detecting Array msg on the screen.

anyone have any ideas on this one now?

umm... may not be all your drives are fryed. sounds more like either you don't have things configured properly, or your MB is fryed.

well...ive tried every possible combination of master/slave and IDE-1 and IDE-2 I can think of, tried using Cable select too. this is a brand new mobo as well, so I hope its not the motherboard =/

also, the 4 drives that were in there before do not work on any other machines, they dont even get detected in the BIOS of other machines, but the parts I scavenged do, even in the one im having problems with, I admit I am not above making mistakes, but I cant see anything that I wouldnt have retried and realized any mistakes by now, although I could be wrong
