, Motherboard BIOS Help

Hi, I'm having trouble in figuring out what BIOS to use, I'm hoping on the expertize here for help. I don't know which one to download.

For a Jetway 993AN rev: 1.2 VIA 693A Series Chipset, 82C693A / 82C596B Apollo Pro - 133 Chipset

I found where to get it, but its unclear on which of the three I should use.

Holy convoluted BIOS descriptions, Batman! Uh... bigger picture, do you have a legitimate need to update the BIOS?

Did you see how they list it, or is it the information I gave, if its what I wrote, I'm just trying to cover all my bets. But if it how they handle the BIOS lists, can it be more confusing.

Please understand, I'm in a general state of confusion, after trying to find clues at there website, thats why I ask if its the info I gave here, that convoluted

I'm putting together a system with a collection of old parts that I have lying around, I'm going to be installing Windows XP Home on this system, and I find its better to just go ahead and update everything with the latest stuff, plus I've had this motherboard for over 3 years. I know I was using this motherboard way befor Windows XP, there has to be something within the BIOS fixs / updates for that alone.

And its kinda fun to do, and if asked, I can say, with the latest BIOS.

It's their info that's making me My best speculative guess is the one called 693ASA04.bin, but I'd sure hate to see you nuke the board based on any guess of mine. While you seldom get useful help from a mobo manufacturer, I think I'd email and ask them which BIOS you're supposed to use.

Not exactly a user-friendly web site, is it? My only observation is that the date on the BIOS update is 2/14/01. It that an update over what is on the board now, assuming we are looking at the right one?

If you are looking for an update that might help with XP, I'm not sure something that old is going to help.

Hi, thank you, I'll send them an email, and hope for the best, I did find something on their website, if you go to their CPU support list section, and look up your motherboard, it gives you a link button indicating what BIOS supports this list, click it and the down load starts. I found this by accident, I guess this is a secret.

I'm going to wait and see if they answer the email, just to be sure.
