Hi Everyone,

I have a MSI P67A-C43 B3 motherboard with a Core i5 2500K cpu. Recently, i've wanted to try and OC my cpu. This is my first time so I wanted to do something mild to keep everything safe so I changed the CPU ratio to 37 (default is 33). All the voltage settings are at default.

When i save changes and restart my computer, my motherboard goes into this loop where it restarts over and over again. The only way to get it to boot into windows is to shutdown my computer, and restart the CMOS settings. This only happens when I change the cpu ratio.

I'm at a lost and I don't know why it won't boot into windows when I change the CPU ratio. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

Use MSI’s OC Genie (one touch over-clocking), otherwise you have to know how to do more than change the multiplier.

No doubt . . . I'm just trying to guess what he did wrong. There is more than one setting in those BIOS's for a multiplier or "ratio:" there's a base multiplier, which can only be lowered, and the turbo ratio. And you would think the BIOS wouldn't let the user enter value of a base multiplier that was higher than allowed . . . .

I know what!! Son!-Son! Jayt101! Look for some over-clocking guides for the P67 chipset. Maybe you'll find one for your particular board. They should still be viable URLs. I studied a P67 guide together with everything I could find about my Z68 before I started stumbling around in the BIOS.

Otherwise "OC Genie" and a version that works for that motherboard. Like Burpo said.
