Motherboard/hard drive advice

I keep getting this atapi error in my Windows Vista event log:

The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Ide\IdePort0.


The event ID is 11. And I always have the same binary data:

0000: 00100000 00000001 00000000 C004000B
0008: 00000002 C0000185 00000000 00000000
0010: 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000
0018: 00000000 00001004

The machine seems to work ok with this error. But I'd like to eliminate it.
I have several WD hard drives, so I tried using a different drive.
I get controller errors on that drive as well. Just not as often.
I have the BIOS setup to use AHCI mode on the drives.

Does anyone know what the source of this problem could be?
I'm tempted to get a Seagate or Hitachi drive just to see if it helps.
Maybe these RE2/RE3 drives just aren't very good.

I've tried this on Vista 64 using a WD RE2 4001ABYS, as well as a
WD RE3 5002ABYS. The errors happen less often on the RE3.
I'm testing the RE3 with Windows 7, incase it's a Vista atapi bug.

Here is some of the hardware I'm using:
ASUS P5QEM
8GB Corsair RAM
Intel Q6600, 2.4 GHZ
ATI 4670
Western Digital RE2 4001ABYS (been using this for months)
Western Digital RE3 5002ABYS (another drive I've tested with Windows 7)

Try installing the latest chipset drivers from Asus if you haven't done so already. If that doesn't work, try setting in BIOS AHCI mode to native IDE.
