Alright guys a few days ago I had a problem with my keyboard. Its a Microsoft wired 600. Suddenly the keyboard would just hang out and start pressing keys on its own and doing all random things. So I figured my keyboard might be a goner and purchased a new Microsoft wired 200 keyboard.

Now with the new keyboard the indicator lights (caps/numlock/scroll lock/) kept going off after a few seconds (around 5 seconds) of inactivity on the keyboard. But when I press any key on the keyboard the lights pop up back instantly. This was not a problem until I found out while spamming a key (keeping it continuously pressed) the keyboard still went off after a few seconds and then when I repress the button it does not respond and a plug in sound is played by my computer. This is very annoying while playing games. I use WSAD keys for navigation and when using W to move forward the keyboard suddenly times out and gives plug in sound. Due to this the movement in the game is hampered or the w key acts like it is stuck even when it is not.

Thinking this was a faulty keyboard I got it replaced. Now's the funny part it's still happening. Annoyed..I took the keyboard to my friends place and checked it out. The same things happening in his computer too with the Microsoft wired 200 keyboard.

Re-plugging my old Microsoft wired 600 keyboard I found out it started to work perfectly and the Indicator lights on it never went off. But it randomly just hangs and goes haywire again(it can take hours before this happens). I checked this keyboard at my friends place and it worked like a charm for hours!!.

Note: I have a dual monitor setup. After installing the second monitor things started to go haywire more often.

Things I have done to resolve the problem.
1) Re-install the Drivers
2) Tried the keyboards on multiple computers.
3) Checked for viruses and malware
4) Changed USB ports for the keyboard (tried all ports, still happens)
5) Sticky keys are off.
6) Checked device manager to see if it is reporting the malfunctioning of my keyboard. Its not.

Now I need help troubleshooting what is going wrong here??

Solved : It was set to turn off for power saving in device settings. Switched it off and problem solved!! how dumb of me not to check that ;3

I would've told you that, so good you had a light bulb of inspired understanding.

Stuff like this would confound anybody. I have a problem that seems to originate from wedding together old tech and new tech: I've got a 20-year-old Belkin Omni-View 4-pt PS/2 KVM switch. I had to get a patch cable for USB-to-PS/2 connecting my 3-year-old motherboard.

When I switch to another machine, then switch back again, the mouse goes bonkers -- raising windows, closing gadgets and doing mischief. The solution simply requires pressing the left mouse-button down after the switchover to my sig-rig, and holding it until the lights on the keyboard blink.

I COULD get a new, DVI-enabled KVM switch, but going through this simple procedure is not much of a problem at all. Really . . .

Well, hadn't meant to high-jack your thread, but if anyone could recommend a new 4-port KVM, I'd be grateful just to have the information. I'd looked for one over the last few years, and the reviews of users don't inspire a lot of confidence.
