Motherboard - Ram : I am confused

Yeah, I'll be very glad if I am able to go into the BIOS screen lol.

I called gigabyte tech support and the results were not exactly what I wanted. But for some reason I just feel that the rev 3.3 will fix it all..

Yeah that's a great article. I don't think I'll be able to go far with my future e4300. I'll be very happy with 350-380. I'm just going to tighten the timings with the DDR2 at 760, like 3-3-3-8 or something.

Spivey this is a bit off topic, and I dont mean to threadjack but do you know what aftermarket coolers work with the dq6? I want to use my artic freezer 7 pro but i havent seen any review with it on a dq6.

Just don't make the same mistake I did. I always use low latency ram with my AMD. Problem is that most memory rated LL usually have high running voltages. So make sure your mobo supports the voltage of the ram or you'll end up in BSOD and fail boot hell like I was.

Is there a way to test your motherboard before you add everything to it to do a minimum check that it is ok? Maybe a step by step check as you add cards and drives to it? I did a search here using "test motherboard" and did not find anything. If I missed a sticky somewhere, I apologize in advance.

Still waiting on shipment with Intel D975XBX2. It is suppose to be here on Wednesday, February 21, 2007.

If I'm thinking what you are, try this.
Setup your board outside of the case and just install only what's necessary initially...CPU/HSF...memory...video card. Then you can see if that will POST. If it does you can move on from there.

Did you decide on RAM yet?

The above process is exactly what I wanted. I have found and downloaded the manual (Intel Desktop Board D975XBX2 Technical Product Specification) and a Specification Update. Been reading up on the board so I might be somewhat ready when I receive it.

I have already ordered the RAM. I decided on the Patriot RAM you referred me to. Did a check on it and it is suppose to have D9GMH.

So, Rambunctious, your ram problem is solved!?! Maybe I can breathe a sign of relief now. Most of my order will be in tomorrow. I won't be using RAID, just a couple of SATA hard drives and an IDE DVD Recorder...
