*** 11/25*** We are back, good news, surgeries removed all tumors, up to radiation treatments to knock out the rest. Back to a full schedule of activities now.

That's great news! Glad to hear that it's going well and hopefully the radiation treatment will do the job.

I see the MSI review up now. Not bad. I like the better cooling.

Not sure if the IP35-E review is still relevant because retail supplies have nearly completely dried up after the last Newegg $60AR deal. Rumor is that it has been replaced by the IP35-V. That's the danger of having reviews take too long to come out.

I believe the Abit IP35/IP35-E are better overclocking boards. IP35-E lacks eSATA and RAID, but it has optical out, one more PCI slot, and an empty bay below the PCI-E graphic slot for ventilation. Item was $60 to $70 AR for several months before it was killed by Abit USA. Why pay an extra 50% for fancy heat pipe and RAID? I have no problem keeping my NB and PWM temps under control with a Big Typhoon modded with a $6 medium speed 120 x 38mm Panaflo.

Why would the author want to evaluate the stripped-down Abit IP35-V? That's stacking the deck in favor of the MSI and Gigabyte offerings. A fair contender from the Abit camp would be IP35. This is an Abit IP35-E with 1394a, RAID, optical out, and two more SATA ports for only $95 AR. That's only $5 more than the MSI P35 Neo2-FR! The goal is to seek out the best value in the sub-$100 MB category, correct?

BTW, the Abit IP35-E is back @ NewEgg. Perhaps Abit USA finally see the light. IP35 Pro is way too much $ for the average users. Why pay 2.5x for dual GPU and RAID? IP35 is still too pricey for my wallet, even at $95 (don't need RAID). I would rather purchase a stand-alone 1394a card so I can re-use it with another MB.

My ideal under $100 MB should be dirt cheap after rebate and be able to keep up with the big boys in the overclocking department (490 to 500MHz FSB).

Too bad it isn't $60AR, or I'd have to buy a third one.

A few users have encountered cold boot issue with IP35-E. I have five in the lab. No problem POSTING with TP Trio and 57F ambient in the morning. Can you test your IP35-E by putting it in the garage overnight? Some say that the board will not POST with sub 60F ambient.

I even put two boards in the freezer for one hour. Again, no problem booting into windows.

Any of these reviews actually going to happen?

nVidia MCP 78 chipsets have been delayed for 5 months. Rumahs on the internets cite heat problems across the northbridge causing a redesign of the heat pipes - or possibly some fanage. The last 'word' was new release in Jan/Feb

AMD 780g is rolling out. Reviews are popping up and official release is the first of next week.

The last I heard, Intel G35 will not be heard from until Fall of this year ...

Edit: I fergit - Anand finished the 790fx and had a x48 preview a few weeks ago
