I have a few motherboards pulled from Gateway systems. Is there any way to get rid of the big Gateway logo screen that appears while the computer is starting up?

I have heard of a way to do it, but like most things I see in passing, I can't recall. You might check some of the "hacking" or system mods web pages...anoyances.org might have it, but they deal mostly with windows things...

sorry can't help you more...

Lol, yeah I got the same problem, I'm on an Emachines and that logo comes out too, I thought it might be the Windows 98 Cd they gave me, because it was just for the Emachines Pc "They claim" (I'll find out as soon as I get my new computer put together Lol), but then when I was messing around and installed Windows 2000 on my new Hard drive, it still was there, so it must have to do with the motherboard like Boonesmi said.

Check in your bios for a way to turn off or customize the flash screen. I've seen this option in an the BIOS of an 810 board I pulled. By disabling the splash screen (if you are given the option), you will see the normal boot-up sequence.

Try LogoGiene 2.1

You can have any boot up screen you like. (well...640X480X8 max)
BTW, if you use "quick power on self test", you only have split second to enjoy your created BIOS bootup screen..

If you are talking about the same type of splash screen as Windows displays, you can use the "Tweak UI"utility and uncheck it so it won't display.
However, I like the idea of the LogoGenie. Is there a URL for that? I did a Google search and all I could come up with is that it comes on FIC motherboards.

It does come w/ FIC mobo, but if you are expert in DOS, you can use BMPsize.exe, CBROM.exe to load your own "OEM logo".

FIC's LogoGienies is like idiot-proof for people like me...

BTW, did I tell you guys, I have my wife's B&W photo on my bootup screen? (of course, I also disable the "Quick Power On Self Test" in the BIOS.) Just imagine the time I have to enjoy my own creation for the 3X RAM check during the bootup?

DurnellTech is talking about company logos being displayed on startup, not the Windows splash screen.

<< Coligeon:

we are quite aware of that.

Did you misunderstand something? Buz2b was talking about where you replace the Windows splash screen, not the logo of the company on startup, unless Buz2b was refering to another post.

Yes, I was speaking of the Windows Splash screen. It was my understanding that this was what the company logo was replacing. Therefore, the TweakUI would disable it. However, if that is not the case, I stand corrected.
