I posted once before on this system and with helpful friendly advice I was able to fix it. Here is the link to that thread:
Previous thread on problems with this PC
I am hoping lightning can strike twice and someone can will have some helpful suggestions for a new problem.
The machine is:
MB:ASUS A7N8X Deluxe 2.0
PCU: AMD Barton 2500
RAM: Corsair 2 sticks 512 DDR
PSU: Antec Earthwatts 430W
Graphics Card: ATI 9500
I just put in the new PSU when it wasn't posting. About two years ago I had to put in another PSU. Now, I am getting a nice post beep and it goes to the big green A7N8X screen, but it won't go any further it just hangs there. No error beeps, no funny sounds from hard drive. I hit Tab to see the details but nothing happens. I reboot and it happens the same way. The green standby light is on the MB. I reset the CMOS during last problem with board and I never updated the version.
I am wondering if there could be something wrong with a motherboard that could cause it to screw up a PSU. Kind of like a bad alternator in your car will drain the battery and if you get the battery checked it looks dead. So, you buy a new one and it is dead too within a day or so.
I just am starting to wonder if the two bad PSUs are really a coincidence. So, what should I try next? Re-resetting the CMOS? Pull connections on HDs and GPU?
Thanks in advance for any and all replies,
