Thanks. I've ordered from proflowers several times over the last couple years and it's usually very good quality. A couple of times I've had problems and they've been great at sending a replacement right away.

Highly recommended.

OK, listen up. You will NEVER find a better deal on flowers using any online national chain service. Call a local flower shop whether it's for the same town you are in or, across the country. You will not only save money but, you will have more options.

He is correct. The floral shops get charged a really high percentage of the sale by the wire service. Example, a wire service like Proflowers, FTD, Teleflora, will take let's say 20% of each order they send to the local floral shop. So if you want an arrangement for your mom and only want to spend $40 the floral shop is only going to get $32 of that $40. Do you think the shop is going to fill the order for $40 or for $32? Of course they are only going to fill the order to the value of $32. You also have to pay anywhere from $5 - $15 for delivery on top of that. So that $40 you are spending is now a $17 - $27 order depending on delivery fees. You are definitely better off just googling a floral shop in the destination city and giving them a call. You (or your mom) will get more for their money that way.

And this may be obvious, but FTD, Teleflora, Proflowers, do not have anything to do with the flowers. They are simply the man in the middle between a customer and the floral shop. They get a nice size chunk of the sale without having anything to do with the flowers, arrangement, delivery or anything.

Edit: I just talked to my dad and the wire services charge is 27%. If you were to google and find his store's website you could order from there or call and order and the shop wouldn't be charged any sort of wire fee and whoever you were sending flowers to would get a better arangement for your money. Just an FYI.

Proflowers is the worst ever. I have used them and they sent a very expensive arrangement to my mother on Mother's Day and it was completely dead. Turns out, after some research this was a fairly common practice for them. Their quality is horrible. Occasionally you get lucky and get some flowers that are alive. YMMV.

Did you contact them?

They've always been prompt with me and have given me the option to either send another as a replacement

or a refund.

I've had flowers delivered twice from Proflowers...Both came in great condition. I think it must depend on geographic area. If you live anywhere near a city, the flowers don't have far to travel..but if your mom is in some rural/country/farm area where they need to drive 100+ miles, the flowers may be a bit wilted by the time they get to her house.

I've had great deliveries from them. Like stated earlier, it's not proflowers' fault your stuff ended up dead... It was the florist in your area. They can't controll the quality of the product after you order. The best they can do is promise a replacement.

Of course. I eventually got a refund, after dealing with an extreme prick in that was fairly high up in the company. The flowers were so bad, my mother was actually embarrassed and didn't want to tell me since she didn't want to hurt my feelings. The funny thing was, I used to listen to Howard Stern and after this period, he started to advertise for them. There was soon a flood of similar posting all over his fan forums about the horrible service and poor quality. Perhaps they changed, but I will never use them again. There are much better alternatives.

BTW, how many orders of yours did they screw up that they have always been prompt with you and given you the option of a resend or a refund...lol.

Actually, it wasn't the dead flowers that I have a problem with. It was the customer service. That said, they have a history of dead flowers, poor quality flowers, and terrible customer service. Trust me, I don't care where you buy your flowers from, I was just sharing my experience.

The above was because they didn't show up on the advertised day. Thinking that they order was not delivered correctly, they sent out another order for me. When the first one showed up a day or two later than expected, I told them the additional order was not necessary, but they told me that they'd just have it go through anyway and I could keep it.

On two other occasions, it's been the flower quality rather than shipping timing. On both occasions, it was probably due to cold Wisconsin weather that caused the issue. I've contacted them afterward on those two occasions and they promptly got a replacement sent out.

Over the last 3-4 years, I've used them a couple times a year for my gf and once or twice for my mother, so it's probably 15 orders all together maybe. As has been stated already, they're just a place to get an order placed vs. the actual producer of the flowers. I realize that I could go with a local place at multiple cities, but this is just an easier way for me to get orders placed, it's a complete surprise for the receiver, and I've had good experiences with the quality guarantee.

With something as fragile as fresh flowers being shipped, I am not disappointed that I've had a few unsatisfactory results. The fact that they have stood by their guarantee when things have not gone well for me is more important in my eyes. I can only speak for my own experience with the company.

Proflowers provides comfort.
I'd rather just look at a page and click a flower to order than driving around to a florist shop.
I don't care about having to spend an extra $8 on Proflowers.com vs. driving to a local florist.

Sure if it's a girlfriend, I can drive her to the local florist shop and have her pick what she wants, instead of me picking one. My mom doesn't have time for such nonsense.

I've never had that problem with Proflowers and I've been using them for 4-5 years.

Here's a thread I created 3 years ago.

You don't have to go to the shop! They will describe the flowers and vase and anything else you want to add. They deliver! Hell, some of the shops are the same ones that do the Proflowers and/or Hallmark. You are just throwing your money away on these online chains. Many of these shops also have web pages with pictures if you've never seen a particular flower before or simply have the imagination of a rock.

The Proflower and Hallmark chains don't have their own stores, warehouses or, personnel except for the person who answers their hotlines. They use local florists, get it?

Girlfriend's flowers came in today, super fresh with the buds just starting to open. I ordered THIS ONE. The vase is pretty decent for 'free'. Only problem was they sat outside for a bit and the chocolate melted. Mom's should be here tomorrow, hope they're just as good.

...

BTW, wrong...Proflowers delivers directly to you unlike other places that use local florists...

I would never chance the ladies in my life (Wife, Mom) get dead flowers or a day or two late! That's insane. The ONLY thing they need to be is on time and alive!
