Hi whm1974! Thanks so much for your prompt reply. Interacting and relating with others in the hopes of gaining information? Is that what you're saying?
I would imagine it as a strong joining incentive but I'm struggling to wrap my head around sticking around within the community. See, once I've found whatever review / product spec I was looking for, I imagine one would log off. Unless AT facilitates making friends in any way?

For me, when I joined, it was because it looked like an entertaining place to be (my brother had joined before me so I knew a little about it). Keep in mind the forums were WAY more active in 2003 when I joined. The tech/geek aspect of it was only a distant second.

Yeah you can discuss a wide range of topics. WIth knowledgeable people. Nice to get input on situations you face.

Buuut ... I was seduced by the lolz. This place was comedy gold in 2004-05. I lurked for over a year before taking the plunge.
