Moto G & Wifi won't stay connected

I know this is a common problem with this device, and the only fix seems to be to enter the special recovery menu, and then clear the cache partition.

It seems absurd that google hasn't come up with a fix yet.
This is with Kit Kat.

Has anyone with one of these things tried one of the alternative OSs that are out there to see if this is fixed in any of them?

I wonder if the 2nd gen one has this issue still?

Other than that, this is still a pretty nice device.

Do you have 'Avoid poor connections' unchecked? I noticed mine would frequently lose connection until I unchecked this.

No, has nothing to do with signal strength. You could be a few feet away, and it would connect, then disconnect, then connect and disconnect and so on...

Motorola is the one to address it!!

Who do you think owned moto when this device was made, and also handles the OS? Google.
Now, they sold the hardware business to lenovo.

So this has nothing to do with Google so why the hell are you saying you can't believe Google hasn't fix this?
Google sold Motorola a year ago.

I have a 2nd generation Moto G and haven't experienced the problem.
