I have the 2013 G and recently upgraded to the 2013 X. The surface area is pretty much the same between the 2, but the X has a display that is bigger because it doesn't have as much bezel as the X. You don't notice it going from the G to the X but you do going from the X to the G (as I learned last night when I turned on the G for the first time in a week or so).

The X is thinner and lighter - I really notice this when holding it in landscape mode.

To me the '13 X is the perfect size as I don't want a bigger display and I love it's thin-ness. I also love the additional functionality but I'm still new to it so I have a fair bit to learn.

The HSPA+ on the G made it fairly quick for internet stuff, but there were places it would definitely be dog-slow. The 4G on the X is pretty much wifi speed all the time so definitely no going back for me.

I'm not a gamer so I can't provide any insight on that. Battery life seems pretty equal between the 2 - no complaints for either of them.

No experience on the '14 version of either so I got nothing on that front.

So wait, you're saying the the 2013 G = 2013 X wrt battery life? Could you please confirm if possible? Like what is the equivalent battery drain on both the phones if watching a video/ playing a game/ browsing?

I dont believe what he is claiming to be true. The moto x has inferior battery life compared to the G

this chart pretty much disproves his claim

Well I can't give you exact timings but I would go 2 days on both before I would hook them up to a charger sometime on the second day. I'm sure they aren't exactly equal but my experience is they aren't far enough apart for me to notice - like 50% better/difference. I have no charts or graphs to convince anyone, just my particular usage pattern.

Yes, that is what I though, according to reviews, the G's have better battery than the X's

Depends on the use case. The Moto G will clearly win for screen time, doing things like internet browsing or video. The Moto X might win for longevity when you consider that Active Display really helps for battery life.

I bought the G(2013) for my girlfriend and I wanted to give her my nexus 4 afterward.
The phone feels good in your hand size wise and the battery life is great!
I acquired a motoX with a broken screen. When my replacement screen gets here I would find out how real world battery life is like on that.

I like the 2013 moto X quite a bit. but unfortunately the amoled screen is a deal breaker for me (screen burn in), otherwise the shape of it and lcd size is perfect
