Bumping old thread, but i gotta give props to Motorola's CS. Satruday at a house warming party my wifes custom Moto X we got when they had the deal going on fell of onto the concrete patio and the screen shattered. Touch still worked, but you could definatly feel the grooves of the broken glass. I didnt have insurance as im with Straight Talk on our phones. So i started googling for screen replacements. Didnt raelly find any good info or the info i did find said youd need to get the digitizer also with the screen and that was like $200+. Some had mentioned motorola will fix it for $175. Anyways it wasnt looking good.
So i IM chat with moto maker CS and tell them what happened expecting to hear about the $175 bit i read about. Instead they gave me a one time only redepmtion code to create a new custom Moto X. WOW!. So i leave chat and start to redesign her new phone. All new colors she chose. This time i decided to gt one of those Air Jacket Grip cases they sell at Motorola for $35. So i add that to the cart along with the free phone and get to payment page and i cant progress the page at all. I was using firefox so i tried Chrome. Same thing. So after about 10 mins fiddling with trying to place the actual order i get back on IM Chat (both times i was #1 in so i get a rep fast). And she said the free phone wont process with any accessories added. Youd have to place a 2nd order for just the case. But she asked what case i was looking at so i told her and she said they could send out that case free of charge. WOW!.
So anyways expecting to have to fork over $175 to send off phone for repair, they just replace it for free and let you recustomize a new one. And then a free case on top of that. I was very excited with the outcome of that ordeal. First time ever dealing with a cracked screen.
So anyways. Props to Motorola CS
I may even order myself one of these cases once we get it and see how it feels in hand on her phone.
My 2cents
I wonder how long this will last. Motorola seems to be all about creating a top-notch customer experience.
When I had an issue with what was at first a double-charge, which ended up becoming a single charge but the wrong dollar value (off by like $5 bucks), a chat with Motorola ended up producing an offer for a free accessory. I think they offered a case or a set of earbuds, both of which I didn't need (had a different case in mind). I asked about the car dock, and they said as soon as it was back in stock they'd send one out to me.
It took over a month (nearly two months) for that to get back in stock, but sure enough, they contacted me when it was available.
And I do like the dock too.
Hopefully Lenovo doesn't foul up the good thing the Google-Motorola leadership had going. Some execs left, which scares me a little, but hopefully enough was left in place for the new-new-Motorola to follow the right path.
