I'm not a deadbeat, and I don't need a bike to pick up chicks. I'm willing to guarantee you are a loser in real life. Go play some dungeons and dragons or something.. "Lifer"

I guess if you want to move out of the house, pay your own rent and be an stubborn independent adult, go for the bike! Your Mom has gone through a lot lately, and I see her point clearly.

this. You have plenty of time to get a bike, give it a few years.

OP, you have a car, truck, and want to get a bike but still live at home and won't follow the rules? Are you 16?

I'm 20.. college student, work full-time, and help out around the house.

I own a car
The truck is my dads
want a bike

Hah you got me there... the reason why I popped in here is because I've own/owned multiple sport bikes and I figured you'd ask some relevant question. Instead you sound like a spoiled teenager moaning that your parents won't let you buy a mustang GT on your 16th birthday.

The truth of the matter is that you can't actually afford "toys" if you're living with mommy. Move your ass out, save some money and then you can get whatever you want.

Congrats on having your own house and sport bike. I just fail to see why you call me a "deadbeat" and say you contributed. I didn't ask what you thought of my living situation. I agree it would be good for me to move out and be independent, but I see no reason until I'm out of college.

I decided to buy a bike, mom has relaxed more on the subject.

feel free to post, but please keep it bike related.

I'm wondering if picking up a bike that may have some damage may not be a bad idea, considering it being my first bike it's likely to be dropped. I looked at a 07 CBR600RR a few days ago owned by a girl who tracked it 6-7 times, ended up low siding it so it's not the cleanest but mechanically the bike is good.

that or a k6 gsxr600 I've been looking at clean, but the owner doesn't seem to know much about proper maintenance. On top of that the seems to be some valve noise and some loss in power, leading me to think it needs a valve adjustment soon.

both would have clean titles either way, from what I heard it's best to avoid salvage titled bikes.

an adult would make their own choice.

With the amount of times you mentioned your mom, i'd just do whatever she wants you too.

personally I'd get out of that situation.

You pulled a fast one on your mommy.

Everytime when I come home from a ride, the first thing my mom asks me is: "How fast did you go?"

I don't lie to my momma either

I'm stuck on another decisions now

which bike to buy

2007 cbr600rr ( 15k, blue/silver dislike, lowsided on track ( saw 6-7 track days ) comes with new tires, pitbull rear stand, and vortex rear sets. It needs a new headlight, the fairing is scratched pretty badly, owner had frame sliders, and the rear tail is messed up.
k6 gsxr600 ( 13k, clean, black/silver, heavier 600, starting to think too aggressive looking )

part of me wants the cbr because it's a lighter bike with a better midrange according to the data. I don't care much for the color but I kind of like that it's been low sided, this way if I drop it I won't feel like I ruined something that was perfect. I like the gixxer but it seems like they are pretty common ( good and bad thing ) plus as it's been brought up in the thread people dislike the gixxer crowd.

I have offers on both, most likely getting one of the bikes tomorrow

preference cbr but only if my offer is accepted ( owner wants more for the wrecked bike than the gixxer )

How much is the CBR? 15K miles and used a track bike, be careful with that. Ask him about how he maintained it.

is this your first bike?

if so, stay away from CBR's, GSXR's, etc. you'll kill yourself. find an older cruiser/standard on the cheap (like a Suzuki GS series )

Who cares what people here like or dislike? Hell, most of the people here never even rode a motorcycle before...as if any of them are qualified to judge someone they've never met based on the kind of motorcycle they ride.

That said, I wouldn't buy any bike that has been tracked and laid down.

Again, a sport bike is a bad choice for a motorcycling n00b, which you are. Those bikes are way more capable than you are at this point and you are far too inexperienced to realize how quickly you can get in over your head on one.

The problem was that you had an M50. The C in C50 stands for Couch.

Yeah I looked at a C50, seemed super comfy. It was just too big for my likes and the M50 looks more "muscular"
