(In case you couldn't figure it out - Blackberry FTMFW.)

I just picked up a 7250 on ebay for $200 with no contract or anything.

What did it cost you to switch your number to that phone?

If it's Verizon it should be free.

good to know - also, I wouldn't have to committ for another 2 years, right? I'd like to someday have the option of switching providers... I guess, if I do switch, I'd have to get a new phone as noone is compatible with VZW, eh?

They might say you have to, what I would do is try going online and changing the phone there first. Then, when it does not work, cause it wont unless you already have a PDA phone. Then, call them and tel them you tried online and it would not work and that you want them to do it. Dont let them charge you cause they might try and if they try to put you into another contract tell them that you refuse. SHould be no problem

Having to carry around a Blackberry for work...I don't know why you'd get one of these "bricks" for personal use.

Neither. I just got the PPC-6700 from Sprint and love it. Works very nicely as a phone, has EV-DO so I have broadband like speeds, can use the phone as a modem (Sprint doesn't monitor this device AFAIK), and the PIM features are great. I signed up for a free mail2web live account, and have it syncing over exchange, and have push email. It's great to have all my contacts, appointments, etc... on a server somewhere so if my phone gets stolen, or goes missing, I dont lose anything.

Also, the 6700 has a slide out keyboard that is amazing. I have no problem using it, whereas the Q/BB style keyboard would drive me nuts. I couldnt use a smartphone powered device, because the lack of touchscreen would drive me nuts.

Depends...do you want to deal with a crappy crashing phone, or deal with a wife complaining about a crappy crashing phone?

Is that exclusive to the 600? I have a few friends with the 650 and wouldn't trade their phones for the world! Do you have experience with the 700p?

That option is not on the table.
