I getting ready to upgrade to a PDA phone, and have decided on a moto Q
Can anyone that has used one or both of these phones tell me what features the 9c offers that make it worth the extra cost?

Yes. It should be loaded with WM 6.1 which is a HUGE upgrade, including cut/paste features and threaded SMS. Much more stable too.

The Q has been discontinued and I believe the Q9c has reached its EOL (End of Life) as well.

I've considered purchasing a "Used Mint Motorola Q" on eBay for $90.00 versus spending $70.00 on a new Motorola Q9c and signing a new two year contract. From what I've read the Q9c is lacking in the RAM department. Does anyone have advice for me or anyone else in this situation?

Go with the 9c. In addition to 6.1 you also have the option of using a wifi SD card which will not work on the original. The Q also will likely be receiving few if any future updates as it has been dead for a while now.

This.

If you want a real phone though, get a BB Storm.

New Q Silver

I have the Moto Q 9h global. Best phone I've ever had. Upgraded to W 6.1 and it is much better. Very customizable with a reg editor, great battery life and hardware updates over the air. Does everything, you can even get a micro-mini WiFi card for it. I hate Black Berries and their dinky buttons. This is a man's phone.

Not everyone wants a limited OS and an pay an extra $30 a month on the bill. For others a more modable OS and cheaper monthly bill is preferred. BB are great phones if you have the need for one. For a business user or anyone who needs push email they are fantastic phones. But if you are not going to benefit from it high points then no need to suffer from the low points(the browser being a big one).

Unless you have seen the Storm browser you cannot comment.

Coming from a Q, and now with a Curve I think I actually have the ability to comment. Take it FWIW, but the Q (granted WM 5.0 not 6.0) was nothing compared to the Curve. The integrated browser is better in the Curve than WM 5, but even if you disagree Opera mini is available for both phones (IIRC) and is one of the best mobile browsers.

Also that "extra $30/month" goes for unlimited internet which is $45/mo on a Q (with Verizon). So I get push email for all my email and unlimited internet use for LESS than I paid with the Q.

As for the "limited OS" comment, what I have read WM is the one that is "more limited" than BB OS. I never really did a lot of "customization" with either OS, because I keep it fairly stock (don't care enough to invest the time and effort to customize it). So that being said, which OS is "limited" I cannot really comment on. Out of the box I found the BB to have a lot more useability right off the bat. Maybe I am in the minority. The Q9C, Silver, and World Phone all might be better than the one I had (and most likely are), but I don't think it could make it better than the Curve.

I'll add a new twist to this. Form factor. The Curve is a much better size and form factor, compared to the Q. The Q is a big phone, the Curve is smaller and not too much wider/thicker than a closed clamshell phone (it's not even much thicker than the Razr).

As a final note, the Q worked great at first but it ended up crapping out and being difficult to use at best. I can't comment on the Curve yet, because I have only had it a few months but so far I like it more than than I did initially with the Q.
