Also, this website has the V300 for free after rebate, as well as the sleek Samsung E715 for $50 AR. I've never heard of the site but came across it when I googled for the samsung phone. Anyone have experience with intelenetwireless.com?

Interesting deals. I'll second that question

Other than that it has been great. Those samsung phones do look nice, though.

Well, it's not supposed to randomly lock up like that, for one. And a lot of people consider the T720 to be the worst (or one of the worst) phones made by Motorola. The reception sucks, and it feels cheap and flimsy, among other reasons.

The T720.....along with a whole lot of other Motorola phones were really extremely bad. Lousy build quality, less than great UI, sub-par reception, and a really bad screen. However, I've been using a v300 for a bit over a month now (which, for me, is a pretty long time, I go through phones very quickly......I'm a malcontent when it comes to phones, what can I say ). The reception is absolutely amazing, easily one of the best I've used. I say this in comparison to pretty much any other GSM phone that will work in the US. The UI is excellent (not to mention pleasing to the eyes. Nice transparency effects all over the place), the build quality is quite good (only complaint being that there is some SLIGHT movement of the top half of the flip, nowhere near as bad as the V60 series, but it is there), and the screen is absoluetely gorgeous (excellent color reproduction, and a very high resolution, 176x220).

The highest compliment I can give it is that I'm actually keeping it for the forseeable future, and the only reason I'll be getting rid of it is to get its big brother the v600 (basically the same phone, biggest difference being the v600 has bluetooth).

So, yeah, in short, I highly reccomend this phone to anyone considering t-mobile

Ditto on this post. The who T7xx series was lauded as pieces of shyt. But the exact opposite has been the case with the V300/400/500/600 series phones. Seem Moto did some homework and really put together a kick azz series of phones. I myself own the 300. RF is GREAT, the screen is BEAUTIFUL, and I have ZERO complaints about the phone.

Head over to howardforums.com to read more about the phone, lots of good info there on cell phones.

Not to hijack the thread a little, but I have a question about the T-Mobile Rebate.

So I have my own T-Mobile account that's been in use for over a year so I don't qualify for the rebate. My mom recently signed up for T-Mobile and she qualifies(got the proper plan, bought the right phone, activated and whatnot), but she's letting me keep the V300 and she'll use my T720i instead.

So here's the concern: If I fill out the paperwork with her name, phone # and IMEI # from the V300, yet I use the V300, there should be no problem with the rebates right? My paranoia theory involves T-Mobile's rebate center checking to see if her SIM card # is connected to the network with the V300 IMEI # and them finding out that it's really connected with my T720i IMEI #. Thus, they reject the rebate for some unknown reason.

Anyone see any problem with that?

why dont' people ever learn that you don't buy cell phones through any place other than an asian retailer? try to look for a little asian retail agent store and most likely they can hook you up with any phone for almost free (or free) w/ a 1 year contract. if you live in the southern california area, there's a gagillion areas.

im pretty sure most places are offering the samsung e715 for free w/ a 1 yr contract right now at them asian places. it's a much much much better phone than the motorola v300.

I can only assume that saying that, you have, as I have, owned both?

The E715 has the advantage in size/weight + looks (though of course, that last one is subjective), and of course that sweet OLED outer display, but thats about it. The internal screen is waaaaaaaay better on the v300 (better colors, larger + much higher resolution). I find the OS far more intuitive, and of course, the big ones, sound quality and reception, while not bad at all on the e715, were notably better on the v300.

The v300 and the e715 are a perfect example of the old saying "don't judge a book by its cover"

i've used the v300 equivalence for cingular, which is the v400 so i pretty much have used both. the menu system on the samsung is a lot easier but of course that is subjective. the screen on the v300/400 is bigger and sharper, i'll give you that much. but that doesn't mean the e715 is bad. the camera is also a lot better since it has flash on the e715. the e715 also has a flashlight built in; a very bright one at that. it's a lot more c ustomizable as well. also the difference between size and weight is like night and day. the motorola feels bulky and heavy. the only advantage of the motorola is the speakerphone function. but what pisses me off about that though is that there is no button to answer a call w/ the speakerphone. you have to open the flip and then press the button on the inside.

the samsung is a higher quality phone but of course some people will like the motorola over it. but in my opinion and a few others that i've known, the samsung is a better phone from experience.

I've had the v400 for over a week now and I have to say it's a sweet phone so far. I heard the same good things about the v300.

And dvdrdiscs is right about the asian retailers. I got mine for $50 - %100 rebate = -$50.

The last set of rebates expired today and they posted new ones and adjusted the price of various phones. Most of them actually got cheaper, but this one has been selling well so they raised the price.

good thing i got my order in before today.

it's really not useful information to say you get the phone free or with money back without pointing out what the monthly fee, etf, etc.

I personally have had 0 problems with my t722i, though I have only had it for 5 monthes, it is far superior to the T68 and nokie 8290 I have owned. Anyway, on this topic...

someone asked about the rebate in conjunction to a family plan... When I got the T722i I got it free AR from amazon and right when I recieved it I went into a t-mobile retail location and switched to a family plan incorporating my wife's line into mine. The rep said the rebate would be fine as it said something like "good on any regular plan $39.99 or more". It worked just fine as I singed up for the $49.99 family plan. 5 weeks later I got my check. Hope that helps,

The v300 is sweet for the price and what you get. It's heavier and bulkier than the samsung phones and the menus are a bit slower. The e715 has the nice camera, but to be honest, I don't know how nice the camera even needs to be, considering I never use the camera and I'd much rather use my s400. Not saying the samsung sucks, but its more or less blah. It's good, but not great. IMO, its a good, but boring to own phone. The flashlight thing is kinda nifty though.

The v300 is good too, but for the price (money in the pocket?) it's a great buy. It has more functionality than the samsung. I think the browser is more liberal as to what pages it can display. I use my phone to check email on the hour cuz i'm tied to it. Plus the AIM and IM options for messaging. Speakerphone is awesome and clear. MP3 ringtones, bright display....sucky camera. I got some aftermarket chrome faceplates for mine, although I'd like it if they had OEM-type rubbery plates other than blue. It's still heavy, but that's them breaks.

And TMobile free GPRS is teh ownage. Good thing I moved out of Cali and am not using the crappy cingular network.

"Heavy is good, heavy is reliable. If it doesn't work you can hit him with it."

HOws the battery life on the v300. I used to have a t68i which would last me about a week, and now i have the e715 which goes for 2days at most before dying on me.

Where can I find these asian stores you speak of, say, for instance, in L.A.? And also, what's the best wireless network out here? I think I heard good things about Verizon and Cingular, but not so much about T-Mobile...any thoughts?

My guess would be you could find the asian store he speaks of in the asian parts of town. That's just a guess though.

I did end up going through IntelenetWireless to get the Samsung E715. It took about 7 business days to get my number transferred, and I was without a cell phone for that time (I did have my work phone), so if that will be an issue for you, prepare for it. The phone is awesome. It doesn't have a speakerphone and apparently you can't assign different ringtones to different callers, but those are the only two faults I can find. Battery life isn't the best, but I didn't really expect it to be all that great in the first place since the phone has so many features that I can't stop playing with it. Regardless I find myself needing to charge it every other day or it will die. This may improve as I use the phone less.

The camera with flash takes good pictures for a camera phone. The flash can double as a flashlight. It came packaged with a golf game! What's not to love?

I haven't dealed with the three separate $50 rebates yet, but for two of them you have to wait until after you've received your third wireless bill. They say that they do this to make sure that you are sticking with the service. I think it's so you forget to send the rebate it, but I may just be cynical.

Regardless the company seems legit.

I just came back from a shop on Bolsa/Magnolia and they're charging 90 bucks for the E715 with a 1 year out the door. The V300 was 50 bucks in your pocket after MIR as well. Which one would you guys go for?

get the E715 if you want a more sleek phone with better UI.
To me the Moto is ugly.

ANyone in Northern NJ know where to get the 300 cheap? My wife and my 800 mn. shared family plan (tmob) is up in 3 weeks. In her maiden name, so might as well switch to my name to get the phones. Tried wheeling and dealing with Tmob, even offered to sign up for additional year on current and they tried selling me the phones for $149 ea.
