I ordered a Samsung Tab today, $199.00 and frankly, it does everything I need it to do. but now i'm starting to have Buyers Remorse.

i spent about 1 hour playing with the Samsung Tab at the Verizon Wireless store and i'm sure it will do everything I need it to do, it handles flash well. it's must quicker and more responsive than my Motorola Droid X, it has a good screen resolution at 1024 x 600. and i LOVE the size of it.

But, the Xoom has the dual core processor, it has honeycomb and it will soon have 4g. Frankly the Xoom's size works against it as far as i'm concerned.

Is it worth it for me to go back and pay an addition $400 to get the Xoom?

UPDATE, keeping the Galaxy. Review as well.

ok, i've played with this thing pretty extensively for 2 days now. a couple of thoughts.

1. I really like the Stock OS. i like that the apps page is persistent, so that if you leave the apps page open it stays open, even when the screen turns off.

2. I like what samsung has done with the apps for this device, email app etc.

3. Hotspot is included but makes sense as i'm on a 3 gb / month plan and each additional 1 gb of bandwidth i use, the charge me $10.00 more a month. I won't use it often, but glad it's there.

4. I LOVE the size and form factor. To me, the 7" is clearly the sweet spot in portabilty and personal entertainment, viewing movies, web pages etc, the 7" particularly because it is 1024 width, is the ideal size. when in landscape mode, you can browse and desktop versions of web pages looks so good.

5. the only thing i'm using so far extensively that's not stock is Skyfire browser. I love the browser. For me it's a tough choice between skyfire and dolphin, but skyfire is winning out so far.

6. what's amazing to me is when i open ESPN in full desktop mode, flash and all, and it scrolls so smoothly and quickly with this device.

frankly, there aren't a whole lot of negatives and I am being told a new update was released OTA and is staggered, so far i haven't gotten the update, but it is supposed to make this device better overall.

My BIGGEST COMPLAINT is they have locked down Skype and Google talk so that you cannot use the device as a phone on 3g, only on Wifi.

I just sold back my Tab to get the iPad 2.... Here's what happened to me. The Tab was awesome for me, it was gradually becoming my all encompassing mobile media center. I was traveling all over the world, still am, and it's small form factor really made it worth it. However eventually I found myself wanting more screen real estate... It really does matter when you go beyond books and movies... Comic books... Magazines.... Newspapers... All of which look sooooo much better with a bit more screen.

The Xoom is a bit beefy compared to the Tab. The iPad 2 is not... It feels as portable to me as the Tab did... The Samsung Tablets will probably feel the same way.

If you have to stay Android and you need it now... Get the Xoom. If you can bear apple... Def get the iPad 2.

You are going to want a bigger screen eventually... Trust me

Sell it, and wait for the newer tablets to come out. The ones that actually seem to have development time put into them.

What is your timeframe? If you have time to wait I would return it and give it a few months. Supposed to be a bunch of tablets coming out relatively soon. And even if none of them are what you are looking for they are sure to drive the prices down.

nah, have to have it within the next couple of weeks. one of it's primary functions is going to be making sure i put in online class times with University of Phoenix, where i start my MIS degree in 2 weeks.

Hold onto the tab, sell it after the new ones come out. Everything will sync with google calender so you won't lose anything.

Oh and get the Wifi edition and the Samsungs 4G hotspot instead of the 3G version... Ends up a little bit cheaper that way, and you get 4G now. Works SO well btw.

that's a thought. but 4g is $50.00 / month for data plan and i'm getting the 3g $35.00 / month and frankly, i'll usually be using it wifi anyway, the only time i'll be using 3g is when i'm away for the weekend. or at church.

3g is more of insurance and i'll probably root it and put wireless tether on it so i can share connection with my kids itouch on the weekends when we aren't at home.

I had the XOOM for a week. Believe me when I tell you it is NOT worth 600 dollars. If you are using the Tab, keep it. Great deal for the money even without cellular service.

Problem with getting a contract direct to the device, it ties you to that providers devices for 2 years with the hotspot you can upgrade to whatever tablet you want later and you no longer care about who is selling it. Even a 3G hotspot is a better option IMHO...

PlatinumGold - can you actually run Skype with full video/audio chat on it, while in WiFi only? I thought that's a missing feature...
