The lian-li is nice, but can not take a rad without investing allot of money into it. A 120.3 rad that is. Ill go for the U2 over the lian li.

I noticed that stuff on the site the other day, a tad expensive.

dont know.. i think that fits a thermochill PA120.3 perfectly fine without mods.

The modular cube is nice. Have to admit it. Annodized exterior also looks very nice. However, i still like the internal layout on my U2-UFO better. And i think its a lot Bigger then the U2-UFO.

Heh!

I'm V disappointed with the Lian Li thread-crappers here!

I guess this proves a point -- no matter how much you lead a horse's ass to water...

Enjoy your 90's retro-boxes!!!

Bwahahahaha!

uhhh... and you forget my powdered black custom U2 thats sitting in my basement waiting for me to start working on? My U2 is going to be much more sexier then yours.

But the mi cube is pretty nice. Only its a lot more expensive then a MM. So its not fair to throw in, but if i was given the chance to buy both at the same price...

ima have to side with zep. Sorry Vin. :X

VinDSL ,
I got a question for you about the MM Twice7 case. I figure since you know something about their product (UFO case) you may be able to give me an answer concerning the Twice7. As you look at the front of the case the mobo and its components are on the left side inside and the psu and drives are placed on the right side.

Now talking purely from a aircooling setup is it safe to turn the case over on its side so as the the the mobo inside is laying flat facing upward(horizontal)? I ask because I'm thinking if a person has a big HSF attached like a Tunig or anything big like that he could lay the case in this position for transport to say a LAN party or wherever. It would hopefully save having to take the hsf off for transport and then reattaching once arrived. I would assume everything else inside would be fine as long as the box didnt take any hard jarring/shaking around.

Also this leads to another question I was wondering about. Have you heard of anyone taking a MM case like this and permanently using it on its side like I mentioned above and using it like that all the time? The MM cases are set up for the mobos to be vertical but I kinda like how the cheaper cube cases are designed for the mobos to lie face up(horizontal) inside.

Have you heard or seen anyone do this with their product? Just curious if it can be safely done.

Thanks,

Skott

P.S. I'm talking about their non windowed (all solid side) unit.

3 of these.

And 1 on these.
http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/...oduct_info&cPath=332&products_id=21047

So total would be about $140 shipped, and then you would need better fans. Not worth the time.

.... *sigh* you forget who your talking to

1. Velcro the sides of the radiator and just stick it in the inside
2. Get L mounts so you can mount one side to the rad and the other to the side wall.

Mount the FAns on directly.

Total cost ~ less then 10 dollars at a hardware store either route.

Next?

Ummm just to let you guys know: the MM costs 350~500, while the LL Mi cube starts at 600 right?

Eh, give me a tower. I'm putting a fully internal water loop in my aurora 570, with a triple rad. Cubes just aren't my thing, too bulky for me.

I do think though the MM UFO looks better than the LL cube, I think that think is ugly. Honestly I don't like most of the LL cases out there...

Yeah, give me my ripped apart Raidmax X-1 (after all the modding I did, it's basically as close to a unique case as you can get). I love this thing for the size, durability and the fact it holds triple 120mm fans. It's quiet and compact. What more can I ask for from a computer that sits in a dorm room all day?

Well, let me put it to you this way...

I was looking at my Opti-1203 case, when I first got it, like an artist standing before a blank canvas wondering what to paint -- and I was thinking exactly the same way you are right now...

I contacted MM and asked the same questions -- and to make a long story short -- 10 days later MM started offering the U2-UFO Horizon (horizontally mounted mobo)!

IMHO, there is absolutely no reason that they couldn't do the same thing with the Twice 7 case -- they just haven't *thought* about it yet!

Perhaps YOU should contact them, and suggest that they start making a Twice 7 Horizon...

I sent a email off to them last night asking if they had plans for a Twice7 Horizon type case in the near future and this is the reply I received today:

No plans on the horizon for a Twice7 horizontal.

But there are plans for something in between a twice7 and bobslay.

Couldn't agree more. Best case I've ever owned. And the water cooling options now have me running two loops.

I think the rad and pump manufacturers should be promoting MM cases since they likely increase their sales dramatically.

Would I be able to fit:

6- 8 hard drives
2 optical drives
1 or possibly 2 120.3 rad's + fans
1 psu (might up it to two due to number of hard drives)
few case fans and the rest of the essential components

in one of these with room to spare?

Sure, no problem!

For instance, [my Opti-1203]

6- 8 hard drives? [1 Removable Bay - Holds 9]
2 optical drives? [2 Removable Bays - Hold 10]
1 or possibly 2 120.3 rad's + fans? [Pre-drilled for Thermochill 1203]
1 psu (might up it to two due to number of hard drives)? [2 ports allow for use of dual or redundant PSU]
few case fans and the rest of the essential components? [no sweat]

My NEW U2-UFO Project:

4 x Raptors 74gig in raid5 or raid0 havent decided yet.
E6600 -> QX6800 -> Tax Write off >:]
EVGA 680i board
Crucial PC-8500 Tracer
PCnC 750W Silencer Quad
Meanwell S320 - For my TEC, and Pump

Watercooling parts:
Thermochil PA120.3
Thermochill PA 160
Swiftech MCP220 in the rear cage
DD680i block
ApogeeGTX
GPU blocks are EK FC, however, i'll be running TEC on GPU once the 8900 comes out. Less heat smaller DIES!

However, i might decide to ditch the TEC route entirely and just drop in 2 8950GX2 <another tax write off>
Well its more heat due to 4 and not 2, but 1v1 its less heat then the 8800s

Pumps:
IWAKI RD-30 <WOOT THE BEST PUMP for H2O cooling>
2 X DDC-2 for my GPU

Dual loop triple pump, triple radiator layout.

I am going to use dual color coolants as well.

-Peace

<3 how computers can be written off as tax purposes for business expense.

Excelent. I think I know what I'm going with for my next build then

I'm going with a custom built water block for my CPU. I've been doing thermal analysis on a theoretical model of it. Gonna talk with my heat transfer/fluid dynamics professor about my results either next week or the week after and see if he has any suggestions for areas of possible improvement. I'd actually like to do this for my senior design project. Designing a block and rad.
