If DMA is checked, my mouse jumps around the screen like crazy when I copy files or install programs (even small ones like acrobat). It makes my machine almost useless... I can't even right click on my desktop while copying files. it also craps out and acts REALLY slow when copying large directories. It shouldn't take 47+ minutes to copy 150mb from one partition to the other! My mouse also gets jumpy when I run anything or windows is loading.
I have a 6gb ATA33 IBM installed as primary master by itself on controller 0, my Toshiba 12x DVD is by itself as master on controller 1. Both drives are detected properly with all settings on auto, both are seen as ATA33 and I have dma checked for both. My mouse is installed as a generic PS/2 mouse.
I've reinstalled MANY many many MANY times now... I'm using the UL bios, I've restored my system to defaults (600x100 standard vcore), latest via 4in1 drivers (.24). Win98SE directX 7a.
The problem seems to go away if I unckeck DMA mode on both my drives... but I need DMA mode checked for best performance!!!! Any advice on what to do? There are no IRQ conflicts.
