I don't use a mousepad with my optical mouse, but my dark-colored desk is getting "chaved" and the surface is scratched up pretty badly.

Has anyone tried something like CS Hyde's C4 classic?

or anything similar to that ? do they work well? Do they "stick" well?

I remember someone at my old tech support job who had actually glued their mouse mat to their executive desk (ie: carved wood, expensive) and hadn't considered that he'd want his PC moved to the other side of the desk three months down the line.

However, if you're looking for a mouse mat so that the bottom of your mouse stops scratching the desk (*chafed, btw) I'd just go for a simple, dark, cloth one from about ten years ago before plastic mousemats and glossy pre-printed pads. You don't want anything far too smooth or reflective, but you have to realistically think that handing over anything other than the most minimal amount of money for a mousemat is surely the first step to consumer madness.

I recently bought one of the large mousepads from Razer along with the Razer Copperhead, and I must say it is one of the best investments I've ever made. It doesn't move, it's very big, and the mouse glides over it like silk. It also has two sides, one for control (for precision), and one for speed (for twitch gaming). Along with the on-the-fly DPI changes available to the copperhead, it has definitely become one of my most prized possessions for the PC.

I meet a lot of people who simply use the top of their desk as I did before, but a good mouse pad is definitely an investment worth making. I can testify to that now, but I would have thought I was crazy a few months ago.

Here is the mousepad that I bought: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16817114322

Hope this helps.

I have one stuck to an Everglide Giganta and I like it. Works quite well.

I think a decent mouse pad is worth the $10-15, but some are way overpriced.

you can always use spray adhesive if needed
the teflon tape for the mouse feet works though

I fasten my pad down with two-sided Scotch tape. It holds and the residue is easliy cleaned off if change is desired.

Wow, until this thread I never even knew people had problems with their mousepads moving around. I've used countless ones over the years and this has never been a problem for me.
