The names I've heard in relation with "High end mouse pad" are Razer (eXact Mat, and IceMat). Anyone used either (especially the dual sides of the eXactmat)?

Every review I have read said the fUnc was very good. It is probably the most recommended mouse pad too.

I have the exactmat with the diamondback.

it is a nice pad and bigger than most pads but I can honestly say that I do not think it makes any difference. The diamondback seems to work just as well on any other pad.

In my book, all the hype on pads is just that.. hype.

Save your money and just get a cheap (or even a freebie) pad.

i use my nice cheap piece of foam from the local best buy and it's fine with me. I even game a lot and don't have any issues

I use the Razer Exactmat with the Diamondback and love it. Sure the Diamondback works well on most surfaces, but if you're in the market for a new pad (and have the space for an Exactmat) get one.
You have the choice of smooth or a slightly grainy surface. Personally I use the smooth.
What more can I say? It's better to use than my old Corepad, looks cool and works flawlessly.

So how much of a difference will you notice when switching from your desk to a high end mouse pad? I've been thinking of getting the MX1000 and a high end mouse pad. I read a review of all the popular ones and the Icemat (I think) had like no resistance at all which sounds nice. Having a great mouse that slides effortlessly sounds good to me.

i too, have the diamondback / exactmat combo its verrrry nice actually. comparing my desk to my ''control'' side of the mousepad is a bigg difference - the mouse feels slightly scratchy and noisy when mousing over desk, but over my pad it is blissfully smooth

I'm using a MX1000 with a RatPadz surface (cant remember the name of it), but I can tell a difference in resistance. It slides effortlessly across the surface, and when I switch to my desk, it actually feels undesirable due to the increased resistance. Before owning the RatPadz surface though, I used my desk 100% of the time, and the ease of movement that the pad gives me now actually took some getting used to.

using an mx1000 on a 2 dollar black fry's mousing surface (made by aci), smooth and nothing to complain about for 2 dollars (great mouse btw - takes a good 2 or so days to get used to however)

LED'sThermaltake Gamma Pad. Best mouse pad I've used, believe it or not. It also has 7 different colored LED's, and you can turn them off whenever you want too

i too have a fUnc 1030 and my mouse seems to glide smoother and better than the desk or a cheap mouse pad. if you have a heavy mouse then this could be a big plus. (i have a mx700)

Paying $20 for a mouse pad is the best scam ever. My hat is off to the cons that came up with that one.

c4ngen w/ teflon skates for the win. works real nice and i love its paper thin profile. does add a quite a big of smoothness over regular pads.

lucky for me I didn't get scammed for a $20 mouse pad. I got a $30 one!

I have the Razer pad, and I'd honestly pay $50 bucks for it, it's super responsive, I put the teflon feet pad on my MX900 and everything's smoooooth!

seems to me the gritted/textures pads tear up the teflon pads on the underside of mice pretty bad after a while. I actually custom made a teflon-coated smooth pad. don't need to worry about sticking or slow mice in gaming with this beast

I would use a mousepad (any) just for the sole purpose of preserving the desk surface (unless you don't care).

Edit: Although any will do, I recommend the fUnc 1030 because of its durablity, it's easy to clean, and IMO has a nice feel.

Another vote here for the func. I like it's size (perfect for my tastes), cord clip, 2 types of surfaces, sepearate rubber grip, and smoothness.
