My old Logitech G9's wide grip started peeling (the shiny coat) after about a year, and the scroll wheel was a bit gummed up and wouldn't free-scroll any more. I contacted them and simply asked where I could *buy* a new grip and if it was possible for *me* to clean the wheel.

They asked for my address and shipped a brand new G9 without asking any other questions. The old one still works great, and I put the precision grip on and gave it to my brother.

With that said, I'm using a G500 now due to the extra thumb button and larger size (feels more comfortable). The G9 feels slightly more top-notch for some reason, but I love the G500.

I have used an MX518 for four years now and it works well enough. The G500 looks nice with its extra buttons though.

Yes, Logitech is very good about this. I had the same experience with a G15 a few years ago.

MX Revolution. The motorized wheel is genius. It's not wired, but I've never had any problems with it for gaming.

I've been using a microsoft sidewinder for like a year and a half and it's still going strong. Fits my hand very nicely too (main reason I bought it) although that's different for everyone.

MX310 lover? I'd say G3, but it's discontinued. I posted at Hardforum (http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1482128) and people are saying M300/G3 lovers need to move to Razer.

I've never had a Razer mouse, but they have a long reputation as being great. I remember they had a 3000dpi ball mouse in the early 00's / late 90's so I would have no problems moving to them.

I'd look at the dimensions for the G3 and then compare to all the latest Razer mice. I see one called the Imperator that looks pretty good.

From what I can tell, Razer mice are light, not bulky and high quality. Nothing worse than a mouse with a lot of weight to it.

Which is exactly what I did.

I ordered the Diamondback 3G and have been using it for nearly a week. It's a great mouse and my clawgrip works fine. It is a little longer than the MX310, so I'm still getting used to it.

I also ordered a Razer Salmosa (found a good deal on it). It's smaller than the 3G, which I like, but it may be too small. It's only got 3 buttons, so I figure I'm going to stick with the 3G and its 7 buttons.

The Logitech G3 looks like a perfect replacement for the MX310. Hard to find though, and expensive at that. ($50-$60)

I have 2 G5's in box still, for spares...my favorite mouse ever...since I couldn't find MX300's anymore, the G5 was my next upgrade...works GREAT, kind of hard to find now though.

Dang, guess I'm a fingertip gripper since I normally leave my wrist in contact with the mousepad, odd. For the OP I personally like the G5 but I used intellimouse opticals for years and loved those. It took some getting used to an ergonomic mouse but now I really like it.

As for durability I don't know, I have had the opposite experience of you. I have two intellimouse opticals still sitting around from 7 years ago and they still work great. On the other hand my first G5 developed scroll wheel issues after a year (logitech sent a new one for free). I still love the G5 but from what I have seen I don't know if I could call them any better built or not, especially if used alot.

I had an MX518 for a long time, but it wasn't big enough for me to grip the way I needed. I ended up with a small cyst on the heel of my palm from resting my mouse hand on the desk so much as a result. I'm using a CM Storm Sentinel now, and I really like it. The profile and macro storage are pretty cool, and its huge enough that my hand rests on it comfortably. The only thing I hate about it is the mouse wheel is REALLY stiff when clicking it. I have the mouse wheel button as my push to talk key, and if I have anything long to say my finger will get fatigued holding the key down and start to pop back and forth between transmitting and not.
