Or shown in bios?

The stepping is listed right on the IHS of the CPU. The only accurate way to know the stepping is to have the proc in front of you.

I ordered one from monarch. Not a bad price plus I'd rather have a 10x multiplier than the 9x. I monarch is one of my fav companies as well. Hopefully it's a decent stepping!

Question, why is the AMD operton 146(retail) and 148(retail) the exact same price at monarch? They are both $241. I guess the 148 doesnt have free shipping but, woopdido. What kind of pricing strategy is that?



They have the oem 146(2.0 ghz) for $173 shipped! These are all 939 right? How do you tell, monarch doesnt say in description. They dont give the full stepping either. bastards! : /

EDIT: Ok I think the ones that do not say 939 in the title are 940's I guess I was looking at 940's. Still strange pricing.

Ya sorry I am a dumbass. It would be helpful if they stated 939 or 940 SOMEWHERE though for the 940's. Instead of deciphering the model code.

I was about to place an order, phew. As soon as they have oem 146's for $175 or so, I will.

You wanna hear something strange? I emailed monarch and asked them if the $176 OEM 146 opterons(that are not under new arrivals and do not say 939 in title) if they are socket 939. A monarch rep just emailed me back and said they ARE!!

I am thinking he is wrong, or else why are there 2 differnt prices for the retail boxed 146s and also for the OEM.

If it is indeed 939, they have OEM 146's for $173!

Ask to get that in writing (double checked and confirmed). That would be a smokin' hot deal if it was true.

Well this is his email to me. Like I said, I think he is wrong. That would mean the "new arrivals" are the exact same procs they have had on their website already, not to meniton, the new arrival chips are $20 cheaper. Look at the one he said is 939, it is $241. Then look under new arrivals for the retailboxed 146 939, its $221. Wtf?

OEM 1xx would be nice, but when??? I ordered early to hopefully get in on a good stepping. I ended up with a crappy OCing OEM Winchester 3500 from Monarch a while back, hopefully my luck will be better this time.....

Yeah, I figured it was 940 but, I wanted to email to confirm. Of course the monarch rep has to give wrong info which makes it more confusing. I emailed him again to notify him he gave me wrong information.

Anyways, I would think as soon as they do get OEMS of the 146 939's, they would be on par with the OEM 940's or less. So around $160-$170 or so. That would be sick.

Of course, we still need to get good steppings so it may be a moot point. I need to have them rush deliver your proc muck. I am not ordering one till I get good steppings.
