Mouthful Of Coins?

I heard that if you put a few copper coins in ur mouth after you've been drinking, if you get breathalised it comes up negative, from a chemists point of view i really dont see how this can work? anyone prove this myth wrong or right?

It's SOP in all 50 states for a police officer to observe the subject for 15 minutes before administering a portable breath test during a DUI stop. This ensures that the subject has not placed anything in his or her mouth that would adversely affect the reading of the PBT.

If you've ever taken a breathalyzer test, how many times have you actually spoken with the officer for more than 5 minutes before he tells you to do it?

If you've ever taken a breathalyzer test, how many times have you actually spoken with the officer for more than 5 minutes before he tells you to do it?

I've never taken one, so I wouldn't know. However, in my previous life I was a records clerk at a local PD and I've read thousands of police report narratives describing exactly what I depicted above. Your experience may vary.

If anyone is a true scientist they would know why the BREATHALIZER is the worst scientific measurement known to man. It measures the alcohol in your blood from the alcohol in your breath. I find it akin to if you wanted to find out what humans had in their urine, test their santitation facilities.

1) not all people 'breathe' the same amount of blood in their respiration.

2) putting alcohol in your mouth during a breath test greatly increases your score.

3) having an open mouth sore (if you play sports...have certain diseases...etc), you greatly increase your score.

All in all the DUI/DWI laws IMHO are purely money makers. The major majority of the people arrested on any given night would never end up killing or hurting anyone due to what they drank. When you add in the time costed to those stopped on a 'roadside checkpoint...CAN VEE SEE YOUR PAPERS?' vs the damage saved only the state and lobbies like MADD/SADD (one of the richest ones) win.

Personally even if I wasn't someone that liked alcohol, I would still not understand how checkpoints for DUI's would be legal in America...they don't care if you will miss your flight, getting to your show/concert, seeing your family member that was just trama-hawked in. You need to wait, take the interview and if the cop isn't liking you...step out and do some fieldsides....or decline and get taken for a breath/blood test.

Always decline the fieldsides...you will look drunk no matter how sober you are. If you have nothing to hide, ask for a blood test by a doctor.

I registered a .168 BAL due to a breath test having 4 beers in about 6 hours+. When I am out I don't drink much at all if I am driving. At this time I was pretty broke, she had used me to help pay some of her debts off lying about how much my share of the bills where.

This very same day I ran into a shelf moving my stuff out of this chick's house that I was leaving with her basic blessing at this point, and just wanted to wait until she was in bed asleep before I came home. I couldn't get a moving truck until the next day.

I was arrested turning into our driveway, the squad car pulled up on me as I turned down my street and was turning into the driveway. She called me several times that night (I didn't answer) and previously told me she knew a few cops

It didn't matter what I was...I was now in the system.
