I believe all Movado watches use crystal glass, BTW. I think this is a warm deal since Ashford has it for $300. You can probably find similar price as this on other websites if you did the search though. For me, I do own a Movado watch, (not this one but with a steel bracelet) and I like it. It is more of a jewelry piece but I am comfortable with buying watches as jewelry. If you have a small wrist and would like a good dress watch, I think it's a good one to get. I'd get one at this price if I didn't have five watches already and I already have a dress black leather watch. (I know it's a waste but some people build a $3000 system and don't consider it waste, to each his own)

Kwad,

Invicta's Are nice for what you pay.....

aaawatch.com has them for 99.00 Shipped which is a great deal (especially compaired to ashfords price of 160)

I have owned two of them, the Auto Diver and the Speedway....however sold both of those along with my other watches because I had too many....

Decided to keep the Rolex and buy a G-shock as a beater

Mr. Pink there are Two types of Crystal Glass.....Mineral Crystal and Sapphire Crystal. Personally I do not know if Movado uses Sapphire in all of their Models (I know Tag Heuer does not in their F1 series)--Sapphire being the Scratch Resistant variant of watch crystals.

However I agree that Movado makes a nice Dress watch, just not something I would put through everyday abuse even their sports models are not that durable, least when compaired to other watches in the same and lower price bracket.

If you can find a Movado Outlet store you can probabily find this model at a similar price if not a little more and still retain the factory warranty.

Yeah, the "for what you pay" regarding the Invictas goes without
saying...$99 is an eh... kind of price, I think. A hot deal would
be the roughly $50/ea that I was getting them for last Xmas
season from Ashford (shipped overnight no less). Ah...the golden
dayz of coupon madness

I also got my Wife's Movado from Ashford at a can't-be-beaten-anywhere-
where-they-have-to-sell-at-or-above-cost price using coupons!

Bah, I'm too lazy to go to the store, just ordered this for my gf. It'll make a nice present, went with Air Delivery because I need it quick (she'd kill me if it didn't get here in time).

Actually, Invicta are Swiss watches, although I suppose some components could be Japanese. I have one of their limited edition automatic divers, solid 18kt gold bezel with 25 jewel movement that I paid $500 for down from $1300.

Vetteguy.....

The limited edition Invictas are the only ones with Swiss ETA (Produced by a Division of the Swatch Corp and used in many high end timepieces, some in excess of $10K) movements......

However the rest of the components in the Limited Edition, and their entire product line are manufactured in Japan....

Just FYI

<< by the way any of you guy out here know this brand name ellingy or leginy watch brand? cost my brother just give me whole set included a watch and pen and zipo all gold. but still waiting for it so I don't exactlly the name. I wonder to know more about this brand. and how much it cost so i buy something value close to it to give him back >>

If It came with a zippo and a pen its probably worth botu $60.00 by itself. Good watched don't come with pens and ziipos

When My girlfriend was in high school she worked for a upscale jewelry store. She would buy no watch but a movado. She claims that they are as flashy as rolex's, but not as many parts to break. She is getting a visio this year from me and also this watch because it is a deal. I have museum that she bought for me for $50.00 many years ago, and it is a excellent watch. If you are buying a swiss army to look good that is plain dumb. If you are trying to look nice, that means you want to inpress people, and swiss army doesnt impress people. If you are looking for functionality, then buy a g shock or someting similar to that. Cheap tags are as expensive as top end movados, and cheap tags suck.

Movado as flashy as a Rolex, I don't think so. I'll put my 18kt/stainless Rolex Datejust w/ diamond dial up against a Movado anytime.

personally, i think movado is too common. why not try rado. movado is the lower sister company of rado (both fall under Swatch companies).

personally, i own a rado platinum ceramica model. the entire watch is scratch proof with a hardness rating of 8.5 (diamond is 10). In fact, the space shuttle is made of similar material.

few people have heard of rado..which is fine by me. however, i do get several comments a week on the sleekness of my model.

sunilJM, nice watch. Does your watch have a gray finish or is that just how the pic came out?

My bro just got a Kenneth Cole watch for test driving Infinity. Quite nice - wish I have the picture.
Search in the web for the deal or go to their website for detail.

I will line up for the test

carmann:

that is what it looks like (in the picture).

it has a reflective mirror-like platinum shell. so depending on the lighting in the room, it varies from dark metallic grey to silver-white.
it really looks cool in dark lighting ...like in a bar or club.

again, although people have never heard of the brand, i get comments several times a week...cause it has an unusual look.

you can get one on ebay cheap if you are interested. (and remember, although not unbreakable, it is totally scratch proof...but hey, im not the one to test it and run a nail across the face)

...oh yeah, and one more thing. i also have rolex explorer II with a black face, worth 3 times more than the rado, but i NEVER get compliments on it. go figure!

Been looking at the Rado Integral for some time now. Retail $1590 but some online sellers offer it for a tad under 1k.
The "warranty void" issues concern me and that's the hitch in buying from online stores. Any suggestions would help.

Men accessaries serve the same function as those for women. Some people choose to wear a weapon grade gold chain a la Mr. T. You put on whatever to impress different people. Marketing people know the target audience. You will not find a Rolex commercial in a PC gaming magazine, same with a Timex in Robb Report.

Watch is by far the most common talked about men's accessaries. For the true upper crust people who don't have to impress others, the watches they wear are very ordinary looking but conservatively stylish. To ordinary people, they are expensive watches, but does NOT look that expensive. You will not impress others with this watch in your neighhood bar. Take a look at some of the offering by Patek Philippe, Jaeger-LeCoultre and similar brands.

Senior,

Patek and LeCoultre are in a totally different league than Movado and really cannot be compaired....

If anything I think that one would have a better chance of Impressing someone in a bar with a Movado than with a Patek as more people who are not "into watches" have heard of Movado, whereas have never heard of Patek or JLC let alone some of the other high end brands.

From personal experience I have had a number of watches in the past year ranging from a Casio G-Shock to my daily wearer a Stainless Steel Rolex Datejust.

The watches that got the most notice were in order....

Invicta Submariner (approx $80 street price)
Invicta Speedway (approx $90 street price)
Tag Heuer 1500 TT (approx $470 Street price)
Casio G Shock ($90 street price)
Rolex Datejust ---ironically never noticed unless I tell someone the time or they knew that I got it.

My brother has a Movado Museum Jr. Sports that gets noticed all of the time and his watch cost alot less than mine....

however I did not buy mine for status appeal, rather I like the look and History of Rolex.

first of all, noone (not even jewelers) sell watches for retail. you can usually get at least a 25% off on most watches (not rolex or anything like that) i have a tag heuer 2000 automatic. the screw down crown is nice, because you can wear it anywhere you want, and it will not get wet on the inside. watch out for the sapphire crystal. it is nice because it doesn't scratch, but it WILL chip, and usually in a big way. my dad's rolex has a big chunk of the crystal gone near 4 o'clock.
