Can I move an ssd from amd computer to a I7 computer?

In general, the answer is Yes, but likely with some caveats.

No games. Mostly os and maybe a few docs. I'm worried about the different bios files.

I would backup and even clone the contents first (at the least for peace of mind if anything was not replaceable). Then reformat the drive suitable to the target system. Once the hardware was prepared I would install the OS and software from scratch.

You might be able to do a quick swap or partial swap and save time but this is a good opportunity to start from a clean fresh beginning.

Moving form one system to another doesn't have any risk. BIOS is tied tied the board not the OS. I've moved drives and used them in enclosures and they all work fine. When it's in the Intel system you can do a BIOS flash from the new system if there's one to be done no problem.

I have moved an OS drive to another platform. It "worked" but within a week or so I realized there were many issues, so a fresh install was performed to get things right.

If the SSD is currently running Win10/11 and it moves to another computer, in most cases it would Adopt during first boot to the New computer and will run well.

You should check the Device Manger and it will show if any of the component need a new driver.

How to open Device Manager

If you have a program like Acronis True Image you can generate a Back up file before you take th e SSD from the cxcurrent computer.

A sperate issue is Win Activation, but that depends on the status of the New installation you might need a New Key to activate Windows.

Going from mbr to UEFI? Should be a quick update / conversion. Also RST might need to be disabled.

There are generally ways to get it to work, such as booting to safemode first and installing drivers, etc. At least with recent Windows. If it is a modern Linux, it is usually even smoother to move over. Anyway, it sounds like it didn't go smoothly and you had to reinstall, so that is that.

In the future though, it helps to know what OS you are using, and what the old and new hardware is.
