Movie backup question for friend in Costo Rica

A friend tells me he wants to backup his DVD movies. He has a computer but it's not that new and he's not that computer skilled. He would like a machine where he pops in a dvd and it writes it to a blank just like it were a compact audio disk or like the GOVIDEO machines for VHS. Is there anything out there like that?

Personally, I use my PC for that with DVD Decrypter, dvdshrink and Nero.

There is no automated system like that.

You only need DVD shrink if nero is allready installed,dvdshrink will decrypt & when done burn it to a blank dvd. pretty easy for a newb.

I think they make some DVD player / DVD Burner for your living room, but they don't have anything to do with computers. However, due to the encryption on 99% of DVD's, this probably would not work for making backups of his DVD's (not sure though, so it still might be worth looking into). Also, I'm sure there are some commercial software programs that would make this process a lot more simple for your average user than using DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink, etc (which is what I use).

True, but I got less coasters using DVD Decrypter for ripping. Could be my fault though.
