Right now I'm eagerly anticipating "Hannibal." I didn't like the book as much as Red Dragon or The Silence of the Lambs, but I want to see Anthony Hopkins as Lecter again!

I also just finished "El Club Dumas," by Arturo Perez-Reverte, the English-translated version (excellent translation, BTW--even the dry humor of Lucas Corso, the main character, made it through the translation unscathed). This is the book the movie "The Ninth Gate" was based on. I liked the movie before I read the book, but now I appreciate it 10x more. I appreciate the movie more now because of the way the writers managed to "massage" such a complex and confusing plotline to be suitable (but still intriguing) for a mainly visual medium. The book is much more involving and mysterious, with many more characters and several intertwining plotlines. I recommend it to anyone who likes a good suspense/mystery novel.

So what movies/books are y'all looking forward to, or have seen or read recently that you enjoyed? I guess I'm bored and want to know what entertains the rest of the ATOT community.

Oh yes, and I'm also excited about the Final Fantasy movie...but aren't we all

When I first heard of the new Hanibal movie I was excited.. Then I read the book.. Hopefully Hopkins can add something to the movie that the book was missing..

Another vote for Hannibal. I bought the book several weeks ago, read it over the course of a day, & am now waiting for Feb 9th to roll around.

If you liked Silence of the lambs read the original back in the series 'red dragon' or see the movie 'manhunter'.

I loved Red Dragon, but I thought Manhunter was kind of cheesy. I did like that Dennis Farina was in it though, he's one of my favorite actors (strangely out of character for Manhunter, though).

Oh, and zogar, my roomate is a HUGE Orson Scott Card fan. I think he's read pretty much everything OSC's written. I've only made it through the Ender series, myself, which I really enjoyed.

Just got done reading Enders Shadow....it's a really good parallel novel to the original Enders Game. I'm currently working my way through 'Transfer of Power' by Vince Flynn....pretty good read so far.
As for movies, Hidden Dragon is opening up in my town this weekend....looking forward to seeing it! Long term, I'm eagerly awaiting Pearl Harbor and Final Fantasy.

"Son of a Bitch!"

he did a top notch job

I was looking forward to 'Crouching Tiger/Hidden Dragon' and was greatly disappointed by its lack of greatness. 'Traffic' was topnotch however. 'Requiem of a Dream' is one I need to see...

I almost forgot about Traffic! I've been wanting to see that since the day it came out. I've gone twice to see it, but both times it was sold out. Maybe I'll preorder some tickets for this weekend. I also want to see Requiem for a Dream, but my gf won't go with me because I told her I heard it was severely disturbing.

Also, last night I watched Run Lola Run for the first time. That was a cool movie, even though the English-dubbed voice acting was horrible. Guess I should watch it subtitled instead.

Speaking of foreign films, a couple of weeks ago I rented The City of The Lost Children. I've been meaning to rent it for years, and boy am I glad I did...an excellent film.

Gaul, you're like the 15th person I've encountered who's reading that. Maybe I'll check it out when I get a chance.

I'm currently reading "On Writing" by Stephen King and after that, I have a large book on networks that I'm supposed to read and after that, I'm hoping that Sue Grafton, PD James and Carol O'Connell will have something new for me.

I'm not really looking forward to any movies, but Chocolat looks interesting. Hannibal, I'll wait for the video for.

werk, You should see Requiem for a Dream very good. Try and talk your gf into going it's distrubing but very good, could get some oscar nominations. I have also seen Traffic and liked Requiem better. They both basically tell the same story only from differnt angles.

I'm looking forward to those beautiful works of art as much as the next guy, and there are very few people who are looking forward to Lord of the Rings as much as I am. But come on, surely there are SOME of you who aren't guilty about looking forward to Tomb Raider!!! Angelina Jolie.... mmmmmmmm.
