Damn it. I love that song. I have it in my running MP3 playlist at the end so it carries me the last 3/4 miles. I thought nobody knew about it though cause it's not super radio friendly.

Really well done movie. This is what that piece of crap V for Vendetta strived to be but failed miserably to be. There was one political point that was kind of in your face, the whole fugee thing, but by the end of the movie you realize it's not as cut and dry as it seemed early on. Regardless, unlike V for Vendetta, they don't beat you over the head with political beliefs because the action is intense, immersive, and incredible. I think the immersiveness was what worked best.

The action scenes are done in a style of saving private ryan but not quite as gory.

The dystopian government thing was only a small part, thank goodness.

Really beautiful sets. I can't believe they were able to create those sets and not spend 400 million dollars.

Reminded me of half life 2. Similar tone somehow.

Great ending, too.

Clive Owen had some serious character development. Not sure what platy means. Almost oscar schindler-ian in his transformation, and a few key scenes explain why he is the way he is.

torpid, I'd like to go into more detail but I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen it.
I won't say there was no development as there were bits and pieces here and there through various other characters but it wasn't nearly enough and I wasn't nearly as moved as I wanted to be by the ending because of that.

Ah, I got you. I didn't mind it too much because he was kind of the everyman in the film, whereas with a lot more character development I might have felt like I was watching him and not immersed in the film as if I WERE him. Hope that made sense!

I liked the movie quite a bit. I wan't unappy that the filmmakers didn't tie everything together for us neatly (usual Hollywood MO) since I viewed it as more the personal journy of one man from complete despair to a state of hope.

A superb movie with amazing action and impressive camera shots. I'm not a film efficianado but I found myself noticing the amazing camera work in the movie. One scene, in particular, involved a very fast paced action sequence that lasted anywhere from 10-15mins that was all 1 continuous camera shot! Highly recommended!

I'm a movie buff and I also took two things from the movie. The amazing way they drew me into the story, and the amazing camera work. As we left I was trying to explain two things to my gf...

#1. I was not crying during that one scene
#2. The level of difficulty in creating a continuous camera action shot that rotated around the actors, moved in space and lasted for minutes at a time.

I do wish I knew the cause of the infertility, but I didn't feel cheated because I wasn't told. This wasn't a mystery story, it was a drama about hope. The point is that the characters in the story didn't know either so there's no reason why we should. The not knowing is what shaped the world they lived in.

I can understand why some people feel cheated. They're used to no loose ends. They're also used to all their futuristic movies going into detail about how we got from how we are now to how they are in the movie. They usually go out of their way to squeeze that information in, usually awkwardly. The point of all of those movies is usually to warn us about continuing along some path, and telling us the consequences if some current action continues into the future.

This fact that this movie is in the future is more coincidental than anything. The story is not about why the present turns into the future world, so answering that question is not essential to the movie. The story is more about hopelessness, human nature, and how hope can change things... as seen through the eyes of an ordinary man.

I have to watch this now. My brother said it was overrated and my mom was all confused (no surprise there). Is it available in wide release yet?

Yeah would this be a good movie for a date?

It's not a bad movie if your date likes movies that make her think. At worst she'll be bored or think it's incomplete. At best she'll be in a mood to be close to somebody.

I was disappointed with this movie. I found most of the dialog contrite and poorly acted. There was little character development, and what little character development there was it was spoon fed to the audience. However, the scene in the city was visually very stunning. The concept as a whole was very good, but IMO poorly put into a movie. I am a going to get the book and read it.

I also don't understand why a nation with a shrinking workforce would want to remove their illegal aliens. If workforce is shrinking because of no children, why would you drive away cheap labor?

PS - why were they burning cows?

I was shocked by the movie, but not impressed by it.

I have no idea why they were burning cows, didn't quite understand that.

Saw this movie over the weekend...excellent. I think the director must be a fan of Half Life 2, because some of the visuals and sequences have an uncanny resemblance to it.

wasn't all that impressed after watching it, id say its average at best. I mean I still have no clue wtf the point is at all. Just looks like another run of the mill action type movie with a pretty flimsy pretext.

Do you remember where the 1 shot started -- was it when he first met Keene (sp?) or did the 1 contiuous shot start with the rolling car on fire?

Maybe you need to watch it again, you should have at least pulled some of the plot lines out. FWIW I enjoyed the movie, and so did my wife - it sparked an hour long conversation - a rare thing for a film.

I don't really listen to radio friendly songs. Muse rocks.
