The whole premise of Idiocracy was that those with the least resources and least education have the most children until they crowd out the one, two (or no) children of the more educated and wealthy. If you want try to compare that to today's election I seriously doubt the first demographic will ever vote Republican in great numbers.

Maybe not, depending on the definition of great numbers, but a fair number of the economic underclass vote Republican based on social issues. In the same way, plenty of the "more educated and wealthy" vote Democrat because of social values. (Besides those who vote Democrat because they are in government or academia and their livelihoods depend on big-spending government.) It's a reasonable assumption for a book or movie if one overlooks that people vote based on reasons other than just pure economic status, but even then, poor people (especially immigrants who have not yet adopted our entitlement mentality) are sometimes the people most determined to get a good, marketable, useful education.

Certainly he was a serious Socialist in his early reign. He had to be; all the momentum was on the left end of the political spectrum, and no one on the right had any chance to gain power.
