MoviePass is like Netflix.
Watch unlimited movies in a month, except their movies are in movie theaters.

I like their spin:
With the current growth and support that we’ve seen within the last several months, our studio and exhibitor revenues and other marketing partnerships have motivated us to lower the price once again, offering movie lovers greater access to MoviePass.

Real world:
1) no one is buying your pass.
we in desperate needs of moar customers.

and/or
2) we're running out of $ for this startup business.
and needs moar cash!

altho for $7/month, it's basically breakeven if you watch a movie a month.

So many times I've almost bought the subscription, but then decided not to. I watch less than 10 movies a year in the theater, and the times I do go are on discount days where it's half price, so I still spend less at the movies in a year than I would on a MoviePass sub. There is the convenience factor, but I just don't think it's worth it.

I just don’t like the idea of giving away my personal information so I can go to movies on the cheap. It isn’t worth it to me.

yeah and uber tracks you when you're not in an uber. mcdonalds knows how many times you go to chik-fil-a. target knows how many times you go to walmart.
This is why I don't install any company-specific apps.

I setup my home theater about 5 years ago now. Since I've set it up, I've gone to the theater exactly 2 times. If this was out prior to having a home theater, I would have been all over this.

Why don't people realize you can uninstall apps and just reinstall them right when you need them?

That said, it's an interesting deal I'd you go to the theater a lot. But I've got a home theater that sounds better and is far more comfortable with no annoying people

To get the deal you have to buy a year in advance, so it's $90.

I still pay $9.95/month and am happy with that. I like that I can cancel at anytime/aren't out of luck if they fold.

If you're going to go that route, why not just force stop and disable the app?
It's also a matter of principle.

I live in a small town with a decent theater less than a mile from me. They just got new seats, too. Summer is my only real busy time so I bought a Movie Pass last fall to have something to do. I also bought my son a 6-month card for Christmas.

I went to a 3:30 showing of Black Panther earlier this week and had the entire theater to myself. I'd say it's been a good investment so far.

I'm not saying it is right for them to track you, it's bullshit. But it happens and I'm just saying CYA and protect your privacy.

I would go the route of uninstall because I would be concerned an update or restart could reactivate the app. Who knows?

I'm not to worried about it, personally, but I went in with my eyes open. When I first subscribed I had friends tell me it must be a scam because the price was too good to be true. I explained to them they are harvesting at least your movie going data, if not a lot more, in exchange. But it can't be worse than what Facebook does, and a lot of folks have that app on their phone with nary a concern.

I would probably sign up if it included IMAX theaters. I can't remember the last time I was at a regular theater... just doesn't seem worth it.

I like my Moviepass subscription (I got in when they had a deal for about $8/month I think). I don't use it a ton, shamefully, but I about break even so I'm fine with that. Good to see they're doing well.

I signed up for Moviepass last December. It took a month for the card to get to me and I couldn't use it. I tried contacting CS through the app, through email, and on Twitter and to this day have not heard back. Give me my money back, Moviepass.

I've had it for a while now, but honestly... I've never used it. The problem is that I tend to see movies on opening day, and since most theaters don't support MoviePass, you have to go to the theater on the day of to buy a ticket. So, it just doesn't work for preorders, and for some movies, it can be hellish to get tickets on the day of unless you're seeing the movie weeks after release. Although, if you're the type that just goes to the theater on a whim to see a movie, it would be perfect for you.

I would probably sign up if it included IMAX theaters. I can't remember the last time I was at a regular theater... just doesn't seem worth it.

It should work, but you have to pay extra per ticket as the free ticket is only for basic shows.
